Don’t Swallow Your Toothpaste
We all want the best for our children, including sparking white teeth. Children today have fewer fillings than ever before, but what is the truth behind this great success story? Better care of our teeth or the magic ingredient in our toothpaste fluoride?
Some parts of Britain like Birmingham already add fluoride to the water and there are now plans to extend this to other cities: Liverpool, Manchester, Glasgow, and London. But fluoride is a poison. It may work in small quantities, but people are worried that there is just too much of it around.
Dental health has been transformed, especially among poorer people. Before fluoride, toothpaste decay was rampant. Yet, dental health has also improved dramatically in countries which do not add fluoride to their water. Britain’s fluoride is imported from Holland, where ironically, fluoridation has been banned.

The Brits have always drunk a lot tea, which, this documentary says contains a good amount of fluoride, more than one part per million; which means that they’ve been absorbing fluoride, by means of the tea, for much longer than the americans; yet, the brits have always been known for having poor teeth — and now they want to add it to their water supplies!?
Even those who aren’t convinced of the toxicity of fluoride should be concerned about the level of fluoride added to the water supply. The optimum level was set in the 1940s at approximately 1 ppm (equal to 1 mg/l). This was based on assumptions that the total intake of fluoride would be 1 mg/day, assuming 4 glasses of water were drunk per day. However, current intake of fluoride comes not just from the water supply. A study conducted by researchers at the University of Iowa and reported in the November issue of the Journal of American Dental Association found that 71% of more than 300 soft drinks contained 0.60 ppm fluoride. Toothpaste, beverages, processed food, fresh fruits and vegetables, vitamins and mineral supplements all contribute to the intake of fluoride. It is now estimated that the total amount of fluoride ingested per day is 8 mg/day, eight times the optimum levels.
The most recognized problem with the ingestion of too much fluoride is dental fluorosis. This condition is characterized by the failure of tooth enamel to crystallize properly in permanent teeth. The effects range from chalky, opaque blotching of teeth to severe, rust-colored stains, surface pitting and tooth brittleness.
An article in the Irish Times of Dublin on August 16, 1999, reports that Dr. Hans Moolenburgh’s research in Holland found that up to 4 percent of people using fluoridated water experienced health problems. These problems ranged from gastrointestinal disorders to mouth sores to rashes to headaches to forms of arthritis to more serious concerns such as cancers and neurological complaints.
Two points only. . .
1. Fluoride only has its supposedly positive effects on tooth enamel when applied topically. Ingesting through drinking water doesn’t do anything for teeth at all.
2. Fluoride is a very specific neurotoxin. There is a reason it is a component of many anti-depressant drugs.
Water fluoridation is a wholesale maneuver designed to dumb down and pacify large populations. Research this and make some smart choices.
Wow, after watching this, I’ll be searching out a toothpaste that doesn’t contain any fluoride.
Also, is that bald pro-fluoride dude getting paid to say that fluoride is harmless even in large doses? Disgusting.
This really scars me, I’m smoking a bowl.
