Gitmo: The New Rules of War
It’s a Swedish documentary about the Guantanamo Bay Naval Base by Erik Gandini and Tarik Saleh.
Features interviews with Janis Karpinski, Mehdi Ghezali and Geoffrey Miller (MG), among others. Gitmo premiered at IDFA in 2005, and reached mainstream theaters in Sweden on February 10, 2006. In 2003, a year after Swedish citizen Mehdi Ghezali was detained at “Gitmo”, which sparked some media interest in Sweden, Erik and Tarik started filming the documentary and visited the base on a guided tour of selected areas.
Mehdi Ghezali was released in 2004, and was interviewed for the film. In 2006, the musical score composed by Krister Linder won first prize for music in a TV feature at the Festival international Musique et Cinéma in Auxerre, France.
In the wake of the 9/11 2001 terrorist attacks, the United States opened a prison camp at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. The hundreds of prisoners believed to be detained there are not afforded prisoners of war status according to the Geneva Convention. They are labeled unlawful combatants, held indefinitely with no right to a lawyer or a trial.

Fantastic documentary. Well made and a good watch indeed. A great insight into the deplorable conditions people are forced to endure. One cannot help but be angered and disgusted buy these military personnel who have a complete disregard for their fellow man.
Thank you Mr. V
Thank you to the person who made this documentary and published this.Hard to believe that our brothers are facing that kind of conditions in a small island where no Human Rights or Geneva Conventions are applied.People like General Miller will suffer on the day of judgement (Insha ALLAH).
@amir, if your god makes people suffer for any reason than it doesnt deserve to be called a god. if there are humans who can preach forgiveness yet a god cant, it is a very pathetic god indeed.
Insha Allah, muslims will one day learn tolerance and forgiveness.
Those poor people…they cant all be proven terrorists. This is the kind of thing that will be the ruin of America.People do not forget this **** easily.
I cant believe my govt. in Ireland allowed American planes to land and fuel, with prisoners like these as cargo…its a disgrace to humanity…but not enough people care.
Better to be shot by a bunch of marines then to live like an animal.Viktor Frankl will turn in his grave once for every prisoner.
@Epicurus: And you got told the definition of what God can and can not do…should and should not do in a book? In a university course? In a dream? Oh no no…you learnt it through “reasoning”….yessss….the infallible reasoning….now I get it…. Will you people with a superiority complex who claim to have “seen through religion” and seen through Islam please grow up and get a life. What a bunch of self aggrandizers!
InshAllah, the targeters of Muslims will one day get over their honey-moon period of enlightenment style sudden epiphanies and actually wake up to facts that there have not been any terrorist attacks or other such bulls*** against the West or other countries for many a years when Islam ALSO existed. Something changed that we have a sudden rise in terrorism. And you are party to it!! Accept your own responsibility before telling others to!
@ Epicurus: Speaking on tolerance and forgiveness that Muslims are to learn…you talking about how Saladin let go of the whole population of Jerusalem without harm on winning it or are you talking of the 1st crusade? Damn! Why do they suddenly bring that up! :D
