I can’t say I’m an atheist because I’m insouciant to the existence of a supreme being (or perhaps more than one) and damnation and redemption leave me cold.

As one of those freer minds, I admit that there might be something in the romantic concept of subjective truth, but with certain limitations and only up to a point. Have you read Nathan the Wise by Lessing?

Actually I was born, surprisingly enough, having not broken a single commandment. And those simple guidelines the seven deadly sins with exception to lust have never been broken by me to this day… But I’m still going to hell? Lust… why would a god create us with the need of a neurochemical system incentivising us to break one of his own fundamental laws especially when he himself told Abraham to go forth and be fruitful…Yes bear fruit from the seed of the loin. Yes Abraham may have been married but he had not heard gods voice at this time so he was living in sin in accordance to the laws he later created. So we are all created by a loving god that made us sinful?.. I don’t buy it. The scientific community consider several perspectives where as the religious community generally don’t. That’s what gives appeal to younger freer minds and gives rise to the largest number of atheists seen since before the idea of polytheism, there are fewer agnostics these days because organised religions just won’t leave be and more people choose NOT to believe at all… The phrase ‘religion and politics should never be disgust at the dinner table’ is there for a reason… Everyone will have different views and it is good you have faith but who are you to say mine is wrong…. you see how the argument would escalate from there? A Muslim may even say I’m godless… How insulting can someone get? How can I be godless? I exist don’t I?
When I was young I asked a vicar how can I know if god exists to which he replied. ”You can’t, that’s why you have to have faith… if god wanted you to know he would tell you”. But Christians all seem to ‘know’ that a Muslim is wrong and vice versa, how can this be? This is why I can’t believe in a god trusting only what a man tells me about a god. You must see that within these organised religions the hypocrisy that could only have come from man not god. I would never ask you to stray from your church its the hub of what you believe but you were no more born believing in the bible as you were born a sinful creature. So I ask, with the guidance of your own parishioner, seek your own truth not what ‘selfish man’ states as true and when you find that truth keep it too yourself.
