In this WorldIn the Shamshatoo Refugee Camp in the North West Frontier Province in Pakistan, there are 53,000 refugees living in sub-human conditions since 1979 with the Soviet Union invasion and 2001 with the USA bombing and invasion of Afghanistan.

The family of the Afghan Enayat and his cousin Jamal decides to send them illegally to London to have a better life. They hire coyotes to smuggle the cousins through Iran and Turkey to Italy and finally London hidden inside trucks and containers.

However, the long journey locked in a container with other families separates the cousins and on 09 August 2002, Jamal has his asylum application refused in London.

As Winterbottom points out, we spent $7.9 billion bombing the Taliban regime. The question remains - how much do we owe those whose lives were ruined as a result?

not a real documentary, just a film shot in documentary style. still good though.

Documentary is just a style or convention of movie making. It has nothing to do with reality. So that makes this a Documentary!

I hadn't realised it wan't a doco until the end, although I did wonder how the camera guy was able to be around the whole time. Still, it gave me a good insight into how asylum seekers have to travel to reach their destination and what a journey they have to endure along the way. I think, those two at least, would have a better life in their own country than a life in London.

Rayan Aziz, You forget that Peshawar is part of Afghanistan. You guys have borrowed it for 100 years with your British Parents. Your parents are gone but they left some unwanted children, namely Pakistanis.

It is not a Style it is a Category. The very Word 'DOCUMENTARY' implies Reality (that which is indeed being Documented).
Docu-Dramas blur the line, but even then the point is the Documenting of facts not to make stuff up.
Another way to say it is: One cannot make a Documetary about something that does not exist, that would be a Fictional Film Production, a Movie.
A 'Documentary' by Definition, is about what exists.
