Many industries in the US are far too close to their governing agencies. I find it some what hypocritical of the alt med industry in that they criticize the FDA of fast-tracking pharam meds to the market and then criticize the same body for not allowing them to make statements and claims regarding alt-med treatments which have not been proven in rigorous clinical trials. The pharma industry and its relationship with the FDA is a problem, yes. But alt-med is not the solution. Alt-med is also a massive industry of its own, and it is rightly worried about such things as the codex alimentarius which would make it harder to sell treatments and make claims without real evidence. Lastly, most doctors are not going to disagree with statements like, "eat more veggies" and "exercise more." Doing these two things will improve your health and you need not take one alt med treatment to do it.
