I had to turn it off, the way they added all those glitch visuals and sounds was simply unbearable.

  2. Cy Marven

Noise is a pain, interesting views, just silly to take them all as 100% proven science. But as views go they do make you think.

  3. phillip wong

Is this serious? Some sort of nerd fantasy?

  4. KsDevil

A colllection of opinions and ideas about the internet much like the internet, itself. But the ideas are nothing new. Knowledge is power. Shared power is undefeatable. The real threat to the internet is speed. The amount of data being entered into the system is increasing in size every year thanks to technology of higher resolution and participation. Of course there is the need to protct your node from attack by those who have an ajenda or are acting against their own long term interests. After all, if everyone is able to bypass information controls and make their own decisions, those who have self-appointed themselves are the 'deciders" will try to hold on to the illusion of their power.

Wow, they said increasing order? I'm tempted not to watch this. Though, on the other hand, from what I've read in the introduction, this is more a documentary about philosophy than physics.

  6. FadedGarden

In the beginning they also said that "many physicists" think that everything is made of information. Please define information as it is used in this instance and name the physicists.

Seriously? Like every scientist these days that does research ranging from quantum physics to people researching the stars. Stephen Hawking would be a big name that comes to mind. He talks about how if a human (or anything for that matter) was sucked into a black hole, the *information* would get splayed out on the surface and you would see the person or object stop in time, when really they have been destroyed by the black hole; saved information.

Another example would be the scientists that are starting to theorize that we are all actually just holographic images, information thats written litterally outside our universe, and projected inwards, kind of like a computer, I guess.

Point is, everything does break down into tiny bits of information. Quantum bits to be exact. Those are the 1s and 0s of our reality. Our universe, many scientists say, is seeming more and more computerized the deeper they look into it.

Once the guy said " the universe is a force of increasing order" 44:18, I had to stop. The universe is in a state of entropy which is decreasing order. Other than that and a few flights of fluff, it was OK.

    1. Alberto Rdrgz

how can you even say that with certainty? how pretentious.

  8. Teddy Mcd

Sometimes a great notion falls apart in the delivery.

I love this documentary its something ive been seeing in the Internet ever since I was little and I am existed to what kind of change this tool will bring in the near future:) .Hundreds of years from now of children will look to the internet as almost a time machine to look into there own family history and there journey in this universe.

  10. Aleteia

I was disapointed by the documentary, not as much about the quality of sound and image but the content: big claims, weak rationale behind. The association between internet the revolution in Egypt for instance. There could be so many hidden variables that all lead to the unrest.
Those "enlightened" guru's living in their phantasies were really boring ...

  11. Jo McKay

Good. enjoyed this - Thank you - collective conscious (and unconscious) as an eventual and inevitable unifying and equalizing force ... hmmm, perhaps

  12. Guest

I agree with Ran Miller. I normally like when a new way to show the same thing comes out...but this one is not for my taste.
    I lasted to 8:19

    1. Guest

I'm with you guys on this one, managed about five mins and had to kill it. Like bad patchwork, made my eyes itch.

    2. lakhotason

It never ceases to baffle me why a documentary is presented in HD and the image is so distorted you could have made it using crayons.

      It is annoying.

    3. Guest

I guess we could try squinting or sitting further away.

    4. lakhotason

Yeah, like sitting away in the next county over.

    5. empathywillsavehumanity

I noticed how your comments are on every video on this site. I definitely admire the information and multiple perspectives that are shown here, yet, I have a question for you. Do you have a productive life outside of sitting around and watching documentaries and making your own opinions apart the internet. It is not that I have anything against your opinion which is rightfully yours... but can't you dedicate yourself to something more productive?

    6. Achems_Razor

Do not come on site and start running down and telling someone you do not know what to do, anyone can come here as often as they want as long as they follow the "comment policy"

To put it more bluntly "none of your business!"

    7. Guest

Would you like my resume? You would be surprised. Not sure how old you are, but if by 54 you have experienced diversity as much as i will never assume that sort of thing about anyone.
Empathy...not sure if you know the meaning.
Welcome on TDF, this is your first comment, use your words in a smarter way if you want to save humanity.

    8. docoman

I just wanted to say I am impressed with the class and style you display in your responses to the occasional silly and rude post directed at you. I admire your empathy, kindness, open-mindedness and restraint from unnecessary rudeness.
I wondered how long it took them to check every video on this site as they said. That would've taken some dedication, but he/she obviously thought that was productive. ;)

  13. Ran Miller

This is one of the most annoying documentaries i had ever heard! Seriously cant make it past the 10minute mark because of all the annoying "sound effects".

  14. Andrew Crook

Great vid, liked the ideas explored.

A universal, global consciousnesses. The PTB are so ******, of course history shows that they PTB are always ****** because they always attempt to stagnate advancement in favor of an obsolete status quo.

  15. Winston Smith

believe me, all the 'powers that be' want is control the internet. Imagine if all the information people received was controlled by just a handful of people. That information would certainly reflect the interests of those people and anywhere a conflict of interest arose it would be handled in favor of the owners of these media outlets. Well, that is exactly the world we are living in today. In 1980 our media was owned by 50 companies approximately. Today it is all owned by 5 or 6 large corporations. Real journalism is dead in any mass media outlet.

I used to be binary like you, but then I took an arrow in the knee.

  17. bobcat43

i refuse to select 1 or 0. i want another option!

    1. lakhotason

Quantum computing. You can be both at once.

    2. thenesteamonster

the other option is "you don't want another option" or "you don't refuse to select 1 or 0" if you can grasp it
0 and 1 are the basic units of decision so you can reduce anything to 0 and 1 even if it seems to you that there is 0,5... it isn't; by refusing to choose between 0 and 1 you already made a choice between "to chose" and "not to chose" so it's again a 0 and 1 situation

  18. CapnCanard

it is interesting though an unfinished story. I think of this doc as just a quick look at some of the aspects of the internet as it emerges with a new set of conscious expectations, but this full flowering has not yet taken place, it is still in process. I feel the issues of a world brain seem relevant but how would that work if one were not a node, or wired into the network? would it even be possible? Can human consciousness transcend the physical matter reality? The obvious answer from traditional thought is a stark denial with an adherence to location and absolute measurements... even as those distances becoming meaningless. Remember they are still searching for particles that my intuition suggests don't exist. It's just a hunch. This will be interesting to watch in the near future.

    1. patrick sheehan

in Das Netz there's a gentleman quite reknowned who agrees with you that these "particles" are merely patches to inconsistencies within otherwise "solid" theories. just double checked, his name is Heinz von Foerster. It's an interesting documentary. a bit open ended, but in the good way that leaves you asking questions that take you places instead of leaving you asking "Where am I?"
however to return to topic, I haven't watched the above doc, but I do know that a big part of science is based on "facts" and that "facts", while seemingly objective, can be bent to subjective aims through either intentional manipulation or unconscious bias. I would say a combination of the two has sparked the search for the Higgs-Boson.
