Unholy War

Dispatches: Unholy WarDispatches investigates the violence and intimidation facing Muslims who convert to Christianity in Britain. Dispatches reporter Antony Barnett meets former Muslims who now live under the threat of reprisals from their former communities. Many are still living in fear. He interviews a family who have been driven out of their home and a convert whose brother was beaten close to death.

The investigation uncovers a network of churches supporting converts from Islam who have to worship under a veil of secrecy. It is estimated there are as many as 3,000 Muslims who have converted to Christianity living in Britain.

Converting to another religion for a Muslim is not just considered a taboo act by some believers. Certain Islamic texts demand converts - also known as apostates - be punished severely for deserting their faith. In several Islamic states, the death penalty is imposed. Here in Britain, Dispatches discovers a form of mob justice is taking place on our streets. A concerned Christian bishop tells Dispatches that it may not be long before a British convert is killed, and implores Muslim leaders to take action.

silly monkeys! hahahhaha, so glad I became self aware, and educated, if your god was so smart and all powerfull how come he cant even give people better instructions, why cant we all see and hear his instructions and agree on them? why does he need money? how come his devine books have flaws(science) how come your religion is just a rip off of horus and older stories past down, do you apologise for all those who were enslaved during history with your religous banner supporting it? when the blacks and women had no rights and your books said all were equal, and the ones holding the books were the ones withholding rights, your religions have failed, science heals the sick, grows the plants and everything else. Seek knowledge small minded monkeys. WE ARE SHITAN/SATAN, we cause the wars and spread the hate, by wanting the nice car and fancy food and jewelry and kill the environment to mine and drill for metals and resouces to feed our greed, not shitan or the devil, we want parboiled rice in nice plastic packages which require trees to be cut down to accomodate, we cause others who can't afford the luxuries to feel inferior and they steal and kill to get, we do this.....EVIL does not exist, no one can ever give an example of an evil person in their life NO ONE. we might see bad people who do bad things(steal kill etc) but not for evil, they do it for money of psychologically unstable which was caused by childhood abuse etc. so we are the problems and we try and create some god n devil to blame it on cause we just dont want to take responsibility(sounds like you right)>>>rise up and wise up a Trini has spoken,

    1. Bungaroosh

Simply accept responsibility for your actions and you see there is no need for gods.

The God of Christianity prefers those would by their own choice love and believe in Him. Allah wants those who are forced to submit to him. Which faith would common sense prefer?

Allah says: “LET THERE BE NO COMPULSION IN RELIGION. Truth has been made clear from error. Whoever rejects false worship and believes in Allah has grasped the most trustworthy handhold that never breaks. And Allah hears and knows all things.” [Sûrah al-Baqarah: 256]

Speak not of that which you know not.

  3. Connie Buckley Smith

I'm so sick and tired hearing muslims say that they believe Jesus was a prophet, but Christians are ignorant about Islam. We all became very aware of Islam after 2001 and know a lot more about Islam in 2012!

Muslims must not be very grounded in their faith if they intimidate those who wish to join another faith. Islam is more a faith of intolerance and punishment....not one of love and peace!!

  4. Petros Petrosyan

Think about what religion is doing all the harm in this world. Are Christians doing honor killings and chopping people heads off.......No. You non believers should just shut the hell up, your anti belief is not working. The whole world is religious, and it is the world community that has givin you everything you believe in (even science is a blessing). Atheists only badmouth religion but offer not ideals or morals of their own that would benefit anybody. This is the reason Atheists will never be taken seriously.

    1. Mantid

Oh mighty Petros please save us, we are lost without the superior knowledge you have obtained. I wander wildly like a mad dog seeking perverted pleasures, because I am Godless. Save us infidels from imminent destruction.

    2. Sam

Christians are just involved in paedophilia, rape, dehumanizing women by stripping them of their dignity (while at the same time raising the status of a nun...?), invading foreign lands, being two-faced and only typing the truth from the conform and protection of their couches, preaching freedoms yet enforcing assimilation....hypocrites. Go read your own book to find out the punishments of adultery (kill them both - Deuteronomy 22:22), premarital sex (stone the woman while her parents watch - Deuteronomy 22:13-21), for a woman who doesn't cover her head (shave her head - Corinthians 11:6), for a disobedient son (stone him to death - Deuteronomy 21:18-21) and I can go on...hypocrites. Oh but wait you believe in a God that will forgive a Christian for gang raping a 14 year old girl and shooting her family in the next room while she is being raped then shooting her in the face (Abeer Qassim Hamza) because "Christ preached love"...hypocrites.

  5. AustralianGuy

why is there so much wasted effort on religion when such energy can be put to better use elsewhere? Research, development, knowledge, volunteer work for disasters. In essence religion's globally try to promote love and peace. Wouldn't God (a loving and justful God) prefer that. Religion is but a guideline. I can totally understand why Atheists, Agnostics and Humanists could care less about his existence and act as true followers by spending more time helping others.

Qur'an 5:51 says "Believers, take not Jews and Christians for your friends."

    1. Sam

      Corinthians 6:14-16
14 Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? 15 What harmony is there between Christ and Belial[a]? Or what does a believer have in common with an unbeliever? 16 What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God.

  7. Kim Bruce

A hypocrite is treated the same way an apostate from Islam is...it is mentioned in the Qur'an and not just in the Hadiths.

"If any turns away from the reminder of his Lord (the Qur'an), He will thrust him into an ever growing torment, and cause for him a severe penalty." Qur'an 72:17

"Truly, if the Hypocrites stir up sedition, if the agitators in the City do not desist, We shall urge you to go against them and set you over them. They shall have a curse on them. Whenever they are found, they shall be seized and slain without mercy - a fierce slaughter - murdered, a horrible murdering." Qur'an 33:60

"You are not a warden over them; except for those who turn away and disbelieve, in which case, he will be punished with the severest punishment. Verily to Us they will return." Qur'an 88:21

      Deutronomy 13:
6 If thy brother, the son of thy mother, or thy son, or thy daughter, or the wife of thy bosom, or thy friend, which is as thine own soul, entice thee secretly, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which thou hast not known, thou, nor thy fathers; 7 Namely, of the gods of the people which are round about you, nigh unto thee, or far off from thee, from the one end of the earth even unto the other end of the earth; 8 Thou shalt not consent unto him, nor hearken unto him; neither shall thine eye pity him, neither shalt thou spare, neither shalt thou conceal him: 9 But thou shalt surely kill him; thine hand shall be first upon him to put him to death, and afterwards the hand of all the people. 10 And thou shalt stone him with stones, that he die; because he hath sought to thrust thee away from the LORD thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage. 11 And all Israel shall hear, and fear, and shall do no more any such wickedness as this is among you.

12 If thou shalt hear say in one of thy cities, which the LORD thy God hath given thee to dwell there, saying, 13 Certain men, the children of Belial, are gone out from among you, and have withdrawn the inhabitants of their city, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which ye have not known; 14 Then shalt thou inquire, and make search, and ask diligently; and, behold, if it be truth, and the thing certain, that such abomination is wrought among you; 15 Thou shalt surely smite the inhabitants of that city with the edge of the sword, destroying it utterly, and all that is therein, and the cattle thereof, with the edge of the sword. 16 And thou shalt gather all the spoil of it into the midst of the street thereof, and shalt burn with fire the city, and all the spoil thereof every whit, for the LORD thy God: and it shall be an heap for ever; it shall not be built again. 17 And there shall cleave nought of the cursed thing to thine hand: that the LORD may turn from the fierceness of his anger, and show thee mercy, and have compassion upon thee, and multiply thee, as he hath sworn unto thy fathers; 18 When thou shalt hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, to keep all his commandments which I command thee this day, to do that which is right in the eyes of the LORD thy God.

      Leviticus 20:27
And as for a man or woman in whom there proves to be a mediumistic spirit or spirit of prediction, they should be put to death without fail. They should pelt them to death with stones. Their own blood is upon them.

I'm not too into the vibe of most of this, I know if has to create ratings, but the interviewer does what he can to develop the fear aspect out of both sides, first about Islam, then moving on to the way the Christian people are focusing on converting Islamic people.

  9. soros soria

Personally, I have come to detest all religions. I've been reading histories of Islam-Christian warfare over the last thousand years and both religions emerge pretty murderous, anti-individual, anti-democratic, anti-rational, bloody. I hate you both.

  10. toolbar

It's not that religion is evil, It is that the heart of the very man is full of evil.

  11. Shah Gee

70% of Muslims believes that 1979 revolution was`nt Islamic revolution... you don't know about Religions so don't talk about that bro!

  12. from212

Wow, this is really messed up that people have to go through all of this because of religion.

I thank Jebus for finally bringing all these human misconceptions and crimes to light. 20 years ago people didn't have access to such readily available databases of knowledge that Internet (The holy father of Jebus) brings us today. hopefully people start to wake up soon.

Will anyone like to convert to the church of Jebus? We promise complete mental clarity and instant boost in IQ of at least 30 points.

How do you join? It is easy as 123!
Just put down your bibles and korans and pick up any non-fictional story book... Congratulations you are now a fellow follower of Jebus.

Who is Jebus? Someone who does not exist. Much like Jesus.

If these people don't want to live in a secular society where anyone can believe in whatever outdated myths that they choose to, then why don't they go & live in another country, where they can live as uncivilised as they want to. If your God requires mere humans to do his work for him, then he is not a very powerful God & does not deserve your praise or reverence. This goes for all religions.
To the American preacher I would like to remind you too that this is not a Christian country, it is a Secular country. The freedom of religion, but more importantly the freedom from religion. Believe whatever nonsense that you want to, just keep it to yourselves & live by the Secular laws of this country or leave it.

    1. from212

Hope you didn't get the wrong idea about me from my last comment. Judging from your comments, I think you are a great person and I completely agree with your comments/beliefs.

Just had the itch to say something stupid at the time.

    2. Gary V

Don't worry no offence was taken, as you can see from my comments I am a firm believer in free speech & I'm not afraid of saying exactly what I think. Sometimes a little too free with my comments, but I never mean to offend, I just like to say what I think & give my honest opinion. I don't expect everyone to agree with me, it would be a boring world if everyone did.
I just clicked on your profile & found a new doc website. Thanks, I love docs & watch them all day & most of the night. Knowledge is a wonderful thing to have (provided you know what to do with it). Regards my friend. Gary.

    3. Jack1952

I would like to add the freedom of not having the imposition of a specific religion over all others as a basic right also. Everyone's beliefs are equal under American law, no matter what those beliefs are. Go away, Moral Majority.

    4. Sorosoria

Jack: please, for the sake of your offspring, go see a psychiatrist.

    5. Jack1952

And why would I need medical help? Let me know so when I go to see the doctor I can tell him where the problem may lie. I've read my comment and for the life of me I don't see anything that would indicate a mental disorder. Although, I suppose if I'm delusional, I wouldn't recognize my delusions as delusions but as reality. So, enlighten me. It would the right thing to do.

    6. Jack1952

As for my offspring, I just spent three days camping in the deep woods with my nine year old grandson. A little fishing, cooking over an open fire, listening to the rain on the tent, even caught a bit of the Perseid meteor shower. Perfection. When the time came, we didn't want to leave. My offspring wouldn't want me to change a thing.

  14. soros

I agree that we all need to learn compassion and believe it is actually part of our human nature. When you see someone needing help desperately, most normal people run to their aid. We dont first ask which religion they belong to. We act out of feeling for our fellow human beings. And that is where we ought to begin.
Islam need to look at itself and highlight what is good and universally compassionate about it. That is how it will be accepted and respected. What we see now of it is violent and repugnant or hypocritical. Reform.

  15. Chantal Francesca Lola Miller

    @Antogonist and Lary 9

I've been brought up a Catholic and I do admit that sometimes what I see in the media with stories involving Islam or Islamic countries, especially when it comes to women really angers me but no religion is perfect, like the fact that no person is perfect. Lary 9, this so called 'medieval disease' that you so lovingly refer to is no worse than the Christian mentality of the middle ages! Europeans, the English in particular, were hung up on the 'Holy Land' and on 'killing witches' and still you try to portray Muslims as stupid swines for wanting to fight their religious war?!!

While we were drilling into people's skulls thinking it could cure the plague, Arabic doctors used 'heathen' medicine to cure their ill and unlike us, they didn't kill their patients.Palestine, incidentally, never belonged to the Christians, Islam is an older religion and Palestine was Muslim land for hundreds of years before Jesus showed up on the scene & with regards to giving it to the Jews?

It was never Christian's to give. After WWII as millions of Jews fled Europe they returned to the 'Holy Land'. After enduring persecution and unimaginable human suffering themselves, I am sad to say the returning Jews were as bad as the Nazis with their ruthless take-over.No religion is better than the other, like everything in life its subjective and yes the mentality of Islam may seem completely ridiculous to you two, but hey, you're Westerners of course aspects are going to seem alien but thats no excuse to ignorant which you evidently both are.

When it effects our world and our belief systems e.g. terrorism, anti-intergration etc then of course we have the right to be angry but the nonsense you spouted in your last two comments only shows you up to bigoted fools and clearly Omar's intelligent comments are wasted on you both.

    1. Serban Dragulin

      1. Not only Islam, but all religions are fairy tales.
      2. You said: "Islam is an older religion and Palestine was Muslim land for hundreds of years before Jesus showed up on the scene & with regards to giving it to the Jews?" THIS IS WRONG!!!! Muhammad entered the picture in the 7th century AD, that is 600 years AFTER the birth of Jesus. Moreover, Jesus never gave Palestine to the Jews. Palestine was promised to the Jews by God, long before the birth of Christ. Just read the OLD Testament.
      3. While it is true that medieval Christian states went to the holy lands in a holy war of their own and burned witches, this cannot be an excuse for islamic extremism. The reason is that NO ONE back then knew any better. Right now the muslims can look around the world, study science, talk to people anywhere in the world, etc. They DO have a choice and they DO have much better examples.
      4. You say "No religion is better than the other, like everything in life its subjective" NOT EVERYTHING IS SUBJECTIVE. If I shoot you, you die, if I shoot anybody else, they will die. Water boils at 100 degrees Celsius. Snow is white. TRUTH IS NOT SUBJECTIVE.
      5. " but hey, you're Westerners of course aspects are going to seem alien but thats no excuse to ignorant which you evidently both are." For someone who knows jack shit about history, as proven at point 2, you sure are quick to throw names.

    2. soros

What nonsense you talk. Christianity is 2000 years old. Islam is 1400 years old. Do you math. The Middle East was first Jewish and pagan, then it was Christian and Jewish; only later did the Muslims take over by the sword. How can you be so dumb?

    3. Proud to be American

    4. Sorosoria

Proud to be American: you are a fool. What the fk are you talking about Bro?

    5. Jack1952

Mohamed lived 600 years after Jesus. He established Islam. One of Mohamed's criticisms were Christianity's belief in the Trinity. The concept of the Trinity was upheld at the Council of Nicea in 325 AD -- long before Mohamed.

    6. Sorosoria

This business of "Muslims doctors" and the like representing a "superior" civilization is fantasy. Yes, scientific thinker did exist in Arabic countries, and they were Arabs in culture, but they were not Muslims but Jews and Christians. In Islam, it is forbidden to look into Creation. Read the Koran, THEN comment.

    7. Soroosoria

First, realize that Judaism came first, THEN came Christianity, only 500 years LATER did Islam show up in Palestine to conquer by the sword all that had been Christian up till then. Try to get your history straight before you give away all of the Mid East to the Muslims. They came last, not first.

  16. Antogonist

@Lary Nine nice one couldnt have put it better myself, particularly like the paradise part if we kill them all we will be ensuring that they all get to paradise and so how is that a bad thing they should thank us for it, hell they should even pay us much like the jews paid the nazis for their deaths. moslems are stupid bast8rds. backward medieval swine.

  17. Lary Nine

I am angry. I have lost loved ones. Millions of others, speaking dozens of different tongues, have too...and the West, as a wing of civilization, has procrastinated for almost a millenium.
Can we stop feuding amongst ourselves long enough to repell the incessantly clamoring barbarians at the Gates of Vienna and defeat this ancient enemy, Islam?
Would the rest of the world suffer long if we extinguished this so-called religion until it was nothing but a curious rumor, naught but an historic footnote?
They are such a blatantly insane, medieval disease and they threaten our common civilization from India and China... to Russia, Europe and America. What nation has not shed bitter tears from these delusional monsters? Why are we, the modern world, avoiding its inevitable confrontation and resolution? One phrase... the unfortunate coincidence of oil, which will be gone very soon and become moot. Give them that for which they pray so fervently...Paradise, one way.

  18. Antogonist

@omar palestine belongs to the christians we decided we wanted it back and gave it to the Jews, it's only a tiny bit of land. I think the fact that Islam teaching anti-semitism is the only reason other Islamic countries are bothered about this. Where was the outcry from Moslems when the sunni Iraq invaded the Shia Iran. I know that some of the things Israel do are out of proportion but hey why dont the palestinians just leave and let the Jews get on with things. If the Moslem world loved peace they would have came to a deal years ago but they didnt havnt and wont. Ok its not nice people getting forced from their homes but life is a c*nt man but it was taken by force years ago so Islam should concede it to Israel for money or something.

  19. Omar

@antogonist If Islam is not your religion, I would not expect you or anyone in your situation to like being forced to pray five times a day. Forced faith is an oppression.

The killing of people who do not follow you religion is still classed as murder in Islam. The verses you refer to regarding the killing of enemies is only in times of persecution. If a verse is taken out of context from any book, the full meaning is made devoid. Let me educate you on some important parts of Islamic Jihad (simply means struggle) which terrorists seem to forget:
    - The first and foremost important part of Jihad (struggle) is with your own self, i.e. you strive to be a better Muslim. Many of the brainwashed fanatics do not follow a number of Islamic laws, so they are in the wrong from the first point.
    - When the Jihad turns to warfare, it is strictly meant to be for the purpose of self-defence, which is commonly taught in many other faiths, leading to the rise in martial arts from Buddhist religions.
    - During warfare, a true Muslim is not allowed to kill or harm the young, elderly, women, trees that bear fruit, or animals that may be used as food sources.
    - If a Muslim faces an enemy, who then surrenders his armour, he is not allowed to kill him. He is meant to take him as a prisoner and feed and clothe him as he does himself.
    - An unarmed individual must not be harmed unless he approaches with intent to kill.
    - Suicide is completely not allowed in Islam, regardless of any reason, except due to insanity (which I suspect is the case for many lol!).

The points I have mentioned above were followed by the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him), and his followers during the time, and were expected to be the standard set to be followed by the coming generations. During his takeover of Makkah, only a handful of individuals were executed, simply because they refused to accept peace and surrender. The rest were all freed with no repercussions, even though the hardships they placed upon him were immense. It was due to this action that they came in the hundreds and thousands and willingly accepted Islam.

The Wahhabis are a sect within Islam, just as there are sects in Christianity. You are correct in assuming that most people do not question what is taught to them about Islam, but this is what leads to being brainwashed. The original Wahabis are linked to a sect of Muslim known as Salafis or the Salaf as-Salih. This group believes that each individual Muslim must attempt to interpret the Quran by themselves in order to prevent doubts in understanding. In one way it is a positive, in that you know the information is true since you have read it yourself. However, the Quran must be understood in context, and taught by a learned individual. The source of the information is very important.

Your are right in one thing, that Muslims shouldn't stand back and see extremism rise. But it's hard to see the efforts that are made. My mosque in particular arranges Inter-Faith events, and the sermons consist purely of how to be a better Muslim (and a better human). Every Muslim community ensures to make their condemnation of this fanaticism be heard within the community and outside it. Some of the key information behind shady individuals is passed from mosques to the police to raise their awareness on possible intelligence matters. So there is a lot of work being done, but it isn't easy to see because it's behind the scenes and almost never reported on the media.

  20. Antogonist

@Omar thankyou for being civil in your reply however I have to ask you is it not true that the Koran has not changed since the time of the prophet, is it not true that there is a command in the Kuran which encourages lying in order to keep the peace with your wife or to lull your enemies into a false sense of security whilst you build up your strength and then when you gain the upper hand to impose upon them your will and kill them if they do not convert to Islam but if they pay homage to Islam and accept second class citizen ship then to let them live. I know there is a verse in the Kuran which says there is no complulsion in religion but there is also a verse which says that if a better command comes along with contradicts with an earlier command then the first command is cancelled. The first command there is no compulsion in religion came about when islam was in its infancy when Mohamed was based in mecca however later when he became powerful in medina the better command to kill people who do not accept islam came along. In what the west should know is this not wording from the Koran and as it has not changed since its inception then are these words not valid still today, people can argue that there are similar type of verses in the old testement however when watching undercover mosque you will realise that there is a very primitive form of islam which is spreading from saudia arabia a country which is supposed to be the ally of the united states and they intend to carry out the Koran to the letter. The reason the koran is being taught in this manner is that there is an opportunity for Islam to overthrow the political and social systems of Europe as their is already a high integration of moslems all over Europe, as it is the duty of Moslems to spread islam throughout the world then this would explain why there is a concentrated effort being undertaken from the heart of Islam Mecca to ensure the moslem subjects around the world are aware of there duty. I have no evidence that in pakistan there is a different way of teaching islam but there is evidence that there is a pakistan taliban which was there before september 11 2001, they also follow the koran strictly. It's very difficult for us to differentiate between good and bad moslem when you both follow the Koran, I asked a friend of mine about this so called extemisism Wahhabi coming out of saudi arabia and he told me we cannot question things which come directly from the land of the prophet, so my statement before that if moslems continue to have a pacifist stance agsinst so called extremism then your demise is almost a gaurantee, I do not see the United states standing back and watching islam take over the United Kingdom I'm sure they would put us out of our misery and it would be welcome, I personally would rather blow up Britian completely than to give it to Islam some people may think differently and would rather live but be ruled by others and have to pray 5 times a day, I wouldnt do it and anyone who did would be a mug.

  21. Omar

@Antogonist: Britain would not become like Israel due to its will to uphold human rights. Bombing for fun would result in all of us stooping to the level of terrorists. I appreciate in retrospect the fact that Islamophobia will exist at much higher levels due to such propaganda.

Comparing Islam to Nazism is your opinion, as opposed to the reality of the fact that a very small group of people want to implement fanatical ideology on the masses. This is a common result of naivety on the part of zealots. Nazism also bred from early German sects of Christianity, just as Zionism was bred from Judaism. That does not mean that all Jews and Christians think or thought in the same way.

I do not want to make you think that I am trying to justify anything. I am simply mentioning this to make you realise that you cannot judge a large group of people due to the actions of a select few. I hope that you try to be more open-minded in your approach, rather than make harsh judgements on an entire religion based on sources such as "Islam: What the West Should Know".

    1. soros

Naziism had no relation to early German Christian sects, unless you can prove it. On the contrary, the blood and soil philosophy of National Socialism predates Christianity. Hitler and the NS wanted a return to a type of paganism.

Hitler presented himself as upholder of Christian values but privately held it in contempt as weakness.Jesus, was, after all a Jew who attempted to reform Judaism with tolerance and love and all that we have inherited.

    2. Jack1952

Nazism began with a small group of followers. We all know how it ended. Extreme Islam is headed in that direction. To many moderate Muslims make excuses for their extremists brothers. They should be the loudest in their condemnation. Usually all they can say is that extremists are misled and that Westerners just don't understand. Meanwhile the Jihadists continue to recruit.

    3. Sorosoria

Normal, decent and moderate Muslims are complicit in the jihad going on at the present against progressive societies, not just in the West, but in places like China, because moderates are keeping silent. This reminds me of the German population that kept its mouth firmly SHUT while the Nazis were persecuting people of conscience, political opponents, progressives and other opponents.

In the future, silent Muslims will have to answer for their failure of conscience.

  22. Antogonist

@Omar antogonist is a name not a word it is spelled the way I like to spell it, as for the documentary being a source of possible propaganda it is very difficult indeed to refute the words coming out of moslems mouths, as for Britian becoming like Israel I mean it will become a bloodbath where moslems are kept imprisoned in ghettos and bombed for fun, as for comparing the current situation to something about Hitler it is not so silly or unpatriotic as you suggest when you consider that both Islam and Nazism have one thing in common and that is the aim to impose their will on other people treat them as subhuman and enslave them.

    1. soros

Well, what you say about Islam you could say about Roman Catholicism: it too did a great number on the natives of North and South America. They weren't exactly won over by loving words and kindness, were they? Let's not be silly. Ideologies of every sort spread through military force, not pleading and persuasion. Get real people.

  23. Omar

If you have friends who do not oppose the content in a program that clearly shows terrorist ideals being preached in mosques, then I refuse to believe that you know them well.

Let me further understand you, "antogonist" (which is spelt antagonist by the way, learn to spell); you believe that Britain will turn into another Israel? Clearly your understanding of history and general knowledge is not up to scratch. You mean to say that somehow the UK will become an area where Crusades and power struggles occur for centuries, along with it magically becoming a land where Christians, Jews, and Muslims would lay religious and ancestral claims? That is what has led to the problems it faces today. The history of the region is filled with strife and issues of the same sort.

If you watch a documentary and simply take it as correct information, then you are amongst the ignorant masses. If I study A-level biology, I do not become a doctor. Similarly, if you watch a documentary on Islam, you cannot profess to be an expert or even have a useful opinion on it. Research the religion yourself. Go to a mosque. Read the text, not with the hope of finding incriminating material, but with vigour to learn something from it. Then you are at a stage when you can comment on an entire faith/belief system, followed by more than a billion people, and the fastest growing religion in the world.

Faith isn’t changed by wars, it is changed by the heart of the individual. This is why I did not condone the behaviour in this documentary, and also why it doesn’t make a difference what stance I take. Comparing Hitler and World War II to this situation would be a disgrace to Britain and to Jews alike. Educate yourself more on facts before you give out opinions.

  24. antogonist

@Omar I have good moslem friends who do not have any opposition to the content of the undercover mosque video which is far worse than what is shown here. If moslems continue to take a pacifist stance towards what other moslems are doing then you have only yourself to blame if in the future a similar situation to that which is going on in Israel occurs here, I personally am very concerned with the presence of people who plan to take over this country and make the original inhabitants into 2nd class citizens, this is wording from the Koran see Islam what the west should know, I do not see a good future for Islam under these circumstances, when Hitler started world war two someone pointed out to him how red the sky was and indicated that this meant blood, blood, blood, Hitler was very shaken by this and I think if moslems don't change then they should be frightened also.

  25. Omar

A documentary that amicably attempted to present both sides of the argument, but failed miserably. A few key cultural issues behind these threats were not highlighted:

    - The afghani people that refused to appear on camera in the church were absent due to their knowledge of their own pashtun tribal laws, known as the 'pashtunwali'. These laws supersede any other social aspects of interaction. The laws also require the "Honor-Killing" of anyone who shames their tribe.
    - The reason why most of these people were asylum seekers is due to the fact that they already are at odds with the religious laws of the state they hail from, i.e. Iran. This means they don't adhere themselves to the Islamic faith in particular anyway.
    - In Islam, a major part of the faith is also to be a good citizen. Those Muslims who refuse to follow the laws of the state they inhabit are told to be in error of Islamic tradition as well as the state, providing that the laws of both do not conflict. Therefore, if the UK is a safe haven for any faith and provides them with human rights (which I believe is the case), British Muslims must uphold that law regardless of what opinion they possess.
    - Many cultural biases prevent converts from being accepted, which is a common psychological form of conformity. It is the reason why people of similar cultures stay together, and also why the city of Bradford has so many British-Pakistanis with a village mentality from their original ancestral localities. The conversion of someone, whether from Islam to another or vice versa, is regarded as taboo and is punished henceforth in despicable and un-Islamic methods.
    - Having had friends who converted to Islam from Christianity, the abuse they endured was in much similar fashion. However, their voices aren't heard. They were shunned from family, sent death threats, ostracised from a community they once belonged, called "Paki-lovers" (who incidentally are not all Muslims!), and were not fully accepted in many circles due to their cultural origins.

I understand that the final point isn't much to do with the documentary, or in any way a reason why Muslims should be allowed to do the same. My point is that there is no reason for one group to be assigned responsibility for its actions, when others do the same. They should all be labelled together and judged under one name: unreasonable fanatics, and ignorant vigilantes.

Being a practising Muslim, I do not condone the demeanour shown by the select few people who choose to behave in such fashion. However, being made to apologise for something I didn't take part in is not a possible option. Condemning such actions won't change the minds of the masses either. Shifting blame does not help anyone. People need to realise that a lot of these cases are more to do with culture than faith. If it was purely religion, we would be in a much better position, because in that situation, a religious head would have the authority to help change the mind of the masses towards a more peaceful way of living. In this modern day world, that simply isn't the case. Most of the problems trickle down to the race.

Well Said: "As a theologian I`d just like to correct Casey in regards to religious texts. Christians do not believe that the Christian Scriptures (aka the New Testament) replaces the Hebrew Scriptures (aka Old Testament). Rather, Christians believe that Jesus fulfilled the covenant of the Hebrew people. Jesus fulfilled the prophecy God gave to Abram (later called Abraham) that through him all nations will be blessed."

In other comments I think its interesting that so many Muslims online are 'moral relativists' and so if they can point to an opponent doing some evils then that 'cancels out' anything they may have been guilty of.

    As for this documentary:
It is very well done (dispatches is good quality) however we see where they must do the oh-so-british politically correct sort of 'even guilt' to everyone.
    What do I mean?
It gives the same ominous music, dreadful words (like 'targeted' 'subversive') and same 'damning concerns' to the nefarious secret Christians 'Kaleb Project' as they do to the radical Muslim group.
Lets just get this in perspective here: The Christians 'wrong' is that they may have planned to befriend ostracized widows. OH NO!

I mean honestly - you would get the sense Dispatches was uncovering 'equal evils' here.

Anyways, fascinating documentary. It seems entirely certain Islam is the fastest declining religion in the West (certainly the UK) but how frustrating we can't really know for sure.
Just imagine it was a totally free option (as in not a threat to health and life) to convert to Christianity?

    Great doc!

  27. Jesus is love, peace!

I can say Christianity, Bhudism, Hinduism, Sikhism, among others are all peaceful religions preaching love, peace, and harmony.

Islam is the only sick cult (so called religion)that has managed to force or brainwash millions around the world.

They believe the angel Gabriel came down and gave the "word" to the sicko they follow and call Mohammed. It was the devil himself pretending to be the angel Gabriel.

The ROOT of the religion itself, the base, the foundation, Mohammed himself all of it, is dirty, sick, and corrupt. God would never send a messenger who could kill, rape, give orders to kill, lie, cheat, the list goes on. ONLY THE DEVIL HIMSELF COULD GIVE ORDERS LIKE THAT.

I can understand how anyone in the world can follow any other religion in the world, just not the sick cult Islam.

I want to ask every Muslim this:

Who would you rather follow, a man who healed the sick, helped the poor, NEVER KILLED OR EVEN LAID ONE NEGATIVE FINGER OR EVEN THOUGHT FOR THAT MATTER ON ANYONE, fed the poor, and EVEN GAVE HIS LIFE FOR US!!!!!!!!!!

A man that killed thousands of people with his own hands, raped hundreds of women and children, gave orders to kill tens of thousands, cheated, lied, deceived, and soo many undescribable other sickening acts

The answer is so simple. It is up to you to truly fill your heart with TRUE LOVE, or TRUE HATE. If you pick the latter, well, God Bless your soul, and I forgive you!!!

If someone hits you, turn your cheek and let him hit the other side, if someone throws a stone at you, throw him or her back a loaf of bread.

Jesus is love, Jesus is peace. Jesus, Budha, Krishna, Guru Nanak, God Bless them all.

lol i love topdocumentarys people leave the most baseless comments. IF you actually sat down with a theologion you would see todays mulims , christians , jews , hindus are not religious , there cultural. Just because they use the word religion does not mean there actions are justified by it . They dont follow religion they follow culture. How do you know ? Because religion requires have rituals based on teh scripture . These religions today are hippocrates of the highest degree . Todays culturism is masked as religion and religion takes all the heat. IF people actually followed religion the world would be a better place. But nope we follow culturism thats why the religius leaders have so much power . Because they can make up whatever crap they want and sell it and use the excuse "The scripture is to difficult for you to understand , let me do it and i'll let you know what it means " looool.
    hypocrisy at its finest.

Culture is the hardest thing to change =p

Todays problems are not because of religion.....its because of a lack of religion . Any of you wanna question this claim i would be happy to show you why :) But if you dont know anything about compartive religion please dont make baseless comments .

    1. Vlatko

And I suppose you're the one of the topdocumentaryfilms' people now @yourboycal.

  29. KIngsley Paul

I think Muslims need to learn compassion which is the very essence of Christianity. Deploying violence would not even please their God, instead it will continue to isolate them as a community in the modern world view.

  30. Mike

Truly the opiate of the masses. Listen to these fairy tales...they're all ridiculous! And you argue over who has the 'most accurate' fairy tale. Whos fairy tale is closer to the 'truth'...and exactly what truth is that?

To argue with, insult and threaten other humans over these damned stories is laughable. To kill other humans over it is a crime against humanity...and a pre-meditated one at that.

Religions have ever only been concocted for the purpose of controlling the masses with threats of damnation and promises of salvation. Get over it. Develop a personal relationship with your God and leave man and his devices out of it!

Stop behaving like friggin' cattle for Godsake...you're embarrassing us in front of the sheep.

well ... they didnt speak about what the orthodox church in egypt treat who convert to islam

torture ... intemidation ... murder ... assassination ... taking they have and leave them with nothing

one priest who became a muslim was tortured in a monestary and forced to keep it secret ... and when he announced his conversion publicaly the church took every thing from him and he ended up in the street ... a muslim man took him in ... gave him a job and the expriest married the daughter and he had from her two daughters ... and while he was on the street with his wife and daughters ... shots were fired killing the wife and one of the daughters ... and while he was praying he was shot and he lost his kidny as a result

while he was in the monestary he said that he knew a monk who kept his conversion to islam secret and when he was discovered he was tortured he was thrown to hungry dogs to feast on his flesh ... and wafa qustantin is another example of what happens to christians who convert to islam

so comparing this to the documentary ... the documentary is just a foreplay

Am an neither atheist or theist, just there my opinion is to you theologian and other religionists who think their belief is the only means of knowing the will of "GOD".1. why cant this GOD reavel himself directly to every man without relying on books which are translated to other languages?2.God is Love, thats what many religion assert, which community or language in the world that does not have this concept or word?
3.Christians pray to God directly but he answers them thru priests how comes?
Its the high time theologians and Co accepted God is imaginary and you are masters of your own destiny as bob marley said find your heaven on earth.

  37. Theologian

As a theologian I`d just like to correct Casey in regards to religious texts. Christians do not believe that the Christian Scriptures (aka the New Testament) replaces the Hebrew Scriptures (aka Old Testament). Rather, Christians believe that Jesus fulfilled the covenant of the Hebrew people. Jesus fulfilled the prophecy God gave to Abram (later called Abraham) that through him all nations will be blessed. Abraham was the founder of the Israeli people - through him, all nations (not just the Jews) will be blessed. God`s will was to enter into relation with ALL people - not just Jews. Jesus was a Jew - therefore a descendant of Abraham, that fulfilled the Law through his sacrifice and ascension, this opened the covenant to all people (Jew and Gentile). It`s not correct to call it the `Old Testament`because this group of texts are still relevant to Jewish people. The `New Testament` doesn`t replace the Old, Christians don`t replace the Jews. Christians rather believe that Christ fulfilled the Law and became the ultimate sacrifice for all sins so that we are no longer bound by the Law. The Law was meant to keep to people pure, but because humans are not perfect they corrupted the Law and turned it into something that it was not meant to be. I always want to point out that it is not ecumenically proper to write all of the letters of God`s name as this is offensive to the Jewish people - God`s name is holy to them. Rather, theologians will write YHWH. Ancient Hebrew did not include vowels in their texts - especially not for God`s name as it was never meant to be pronounced by the people since it was so holy. It has been mis-interrupted in the past as being Yehowah - or Jehovah. We now know this is incorrect - but we still shouldn`t write it out of respect for our Jewish brothers and sisters.

    come on now

What your basically saying is...guns don't kill people. People kill people. Correct?

  39. Come on now...

-Also, A religion is a way of belief, not the actions of it's many followers. Each follower is unique. In no religion does all of it's followers interpret it's teachings the same way; even the extremists THINK they are being pious when they do what they do. The devil will even use faith as a weapon against the believer. He is sneaky, He is tricky and he is one crafty son of a... All religions have there black spots -ALL of THEM DO

  40. Come on now...

But as far as other religions are concerned I feel no one need judge. Our Father will judge everyone of his sheep. That is solely and only his job to do, not us.
-Either way, we will ALL HAVE TO FACE HIM...

  41. Come on now...

If you are to understand being a true follower of Christ (so that you can attempt to break it down)...
You must first realize that the sacrifice of GOD (Yahweh) of his son (JESUS) on the cross is the BASIS of our FAITH. He died so that we did not have to suffer the judgments of the OLD TESTAMENT. JESUS' Crucifixion... The BLOOD OF THE LAMB... He washed our sins away. He became THE WAY, that replaced the LAW (the old testament) into HEAVEN.
"No one reaches the FATHER, Except THRough ME" -JESUS
The old testament is just a historical account - not the our guidebook of rules to reach heaven

The Bible also orders death for those who convert to other religions.

13:6 "If thy brother, the son of thy mother, or thy son, or thy daughter, or the wife of thy bosom, or thy friend, which is as thine own soul, entice thee secretly, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which thou hast not known, thou, nor thy fathers; 13:7 Namely, of the gods of the people which are round about you, nigh unto thee, or far off from thee, from the one end of the earth even unto the other end of the earth; 13:8 Thou shalt not consent unto him, nor hearken unto him; neither shall thine eye pity him, neither shalt thou spare, neither shalt thou conceal him: 13:9 But thou shalt surely kill him; thine hand shall be first upon him to put him to death, and afterwards the hand of all the people."

  44. Syly1212

Someday we will all answer to one God and then we will know what His religion. I just wish we could all get along until then.

I came across a book called "why christianity must change or risk dying" by a Bishop John spong.Originally since human beings did not understand the nature and external/internal environment as we know today or as people advanced in conciousness slightly before stone age, through the sone age and after stone age.Human beings could not really comprehend what was taking place around them,as they formed early government they did not have police to enforce laws and that how their leaders invented God or gods.
The society that i come from before the whiteman brought us his version of God jesus blabla,we had our own means of enforcing laws by using the a God and curses if one transgressed certain laws. But as with whiteman religion whenever a person trangressed the law it was not the Gods who punished him but Men!The best way to describe God is-an imaginary tool of enforcing the laws.
Does the modern man need God,i can say yes to some degree to compliment other tools of enforcing the laws like police, cctv etc.
But if really a person wants to understand him/herself there no need of imaginary deity, one should accept he is here by him/herself.

Religions are like paths toward a mountain, wherever you are is your starting point if you intend to climb and get to the summit of that mountain. In essence you cant leave your starting point and seek another. What am implying is religions are one among many ways of attaining self-esteem or self realization or maturity. The representation may appear to be different but the purpose is the same,it doesnt really matter which religion you belong to,it doesnt even matter if you are atheist or theist. In that regard theres no point in converting, but its also absurd when people attack others just because theyve decided to leave your religion, because it simply means you the attacker you have no slight idea of your religion, you are worse of than the person who has left your institution/box.

  49. WaDe

The DOCUMENTARY: This documentary didn't even seem extreme to me. They did show the one imam that at least publicly espoused totally non-violent action. They were harsh on evangelical Christians trying to convert Muslims through what they thought were deceptive means. They showed both side; it's not politically correct to go against Islam in this day and age. It's very brave of them to do this documentary. They did a good job.

Note: Shame on the Caleb Project for not sticking to their guns! There is nothing wrong with helping and "targeting" the needed with the goal of winning as many as we can to Christ, Muslim or not. They let fear get the better of them there.

To Casey: After reading your comments, you have to also remember that many young women have been killed as an "honor killing" for not just converting to Christianity but whatever else they've done to dishonor Islam. Who knows how many are uncounted in Islamic states alone. Isn't there even one girl in the news now in the U.S.A. afraid to go home for fear of death for her new Christian faith? She's serious when she says that she thinks they will kill her.

The character of God remains unchanged; the Old Testament laws were so strict, because God was trying to prevent "moral tooth decay" that would totally destroy the nation of Israel and bring his judgment upon them prematurely. Unfortunately, like us all, were judged for sin and lost their nation needlessly eventually many years later.

God still hates sin (it still holds the "death penilty" for the soul), but judgment is postponed now until we face God personally after death (for the most part).

Many of the Levitical laws were brilliant for thier time, like not touching dead bodies (and separation of those that did), and burying your poop when you used the restroom in the camp; they prevented disease and had very good reasons for them.

The reason for the restrictions on physically deformed people in the temple and especially a priest's role was because it was before the time of Christ's "covering" for all of our "imperfections," of which the chief is sin. I could look it up, and it does sound a bit harsh, but God also said that he looks at the heart, while man was the one that looked at the outward appearence (like in the selection of King David over his brothers).

Those unlucky people were not forbidden from salvation, but access to the temple and service only; remember the sore covered and crippled Lazareth was the one that went to Heaven in Jesus' story while the wealthy rich man did not. Trust God's judgments and instructions; they are based in love, not hate. I'm not so confident to say such about Islam's priciples. Have you watched the documentary here on this website: "What the West Needs to Know about Islam"?

  51. casey

my whole point behind it wasn't that christians are worse or anything like that, but that people seem to overlook strange parts in religion that have been changed to be more "accepted" in more modern times. just because there are little bits and pieces that can be picked out of the quran to justify what these extremists are doing, doesn't mean the remaining 1.5-1.7 billion muslims believe the same thing. different christian sects have extremist tendencies also. you're response i'm sure from your comments left would be "but they haven't done anything". alright, well put yourself in some of those extremists' shoes. i'm not AT ALL advocating, or saying that they are at all right for anything they do. i disagree completely with them in all ways, but if your race/religion was intruded on, or segregated to the point where you looked like animals, were bashed, and all of this stuff, would you not feel hatred towards the enemy? sure you would, but not enough to do anything "extreme". now put yourself in the percentage of the christian extremists which do exist, they would feel provoked enough to do something extreme! but this isn't happening, because christians aren't the enemy, it's the muslims. they didn't just wake up one day and decide to do all this stupid shit with blowing themselves up. televangelists across north america preach hatred towards muslims (not all, but some if you look it up) and in SOME cases, advocate doing anything to rid of these people, it doesn't get into specifics, but to RID a majority of people because they don't believe what you believe? it's nonsense, and this stuff is looked over because christians aren't the enemy, muslims are. people walk into those chruches in the thousands because they believe in christianity, and obviously agree with the preaching, that's just breeding more hatred, and intolerance for the future! there are a few thousand extremists out of a billion and a half muslims, yet you ask any uneducated non-muslim what they're opinion is about us, and they'd say what? we blow ourselves up, blah blah blah. same old story because of peoples ignorance. and "our allah" is god. the quran originates in arabic, therefore we wouldn't call him god because god is an english term for him, we call him allah. allah doesn't preach or teach in the quran, it's the prophet muhammed. that is again another intolerant act upon you. i'll admit defeat in the fact that some things i mentioned from the old testament aren't "radical" or "extreme", but keep in mind that a small percentage (we're talking about decimals here) of muslims want to do crazy extremist things, yet we all get grouped together as radicalists because some people want to do something they believe is right in the name of a religion of a billion and a half people. if you're ignorant enough to generalize us as being the same way all together, then there is obviously nothing to get through to you about. haven't you ever heard the expression to never judge a book by its cover? to pretty much know what you're talking about before saying something so 'set in stone'? common sense in this case is obviously not so common.

don’t let cattle graze with other kinds of cattle. – leviticus 19:19 and there's something wrong with this? How is this extreme? For the record, you don't mix herds.

don’t have a variety of crops on the same field. – leviticus 19:19 If you understood anything about horticulture you would know why this one.

don’t wear clothes made of more than one fabric. – leviticus 19:19- and this is extremist how???? I wear only 100% cotton. I'm rash-free but hardly an extremist lol

don’t cut your hair nor shave. – leviticus 19:27 Again, how is this extreme?

any person who curseth his mother or father, must be killed. – leviticus 20:9 This is where a good bible study could help you, dude. To "curse" ones parents back then wasn't about cussing at the old man, it was to DISHONOR them. And not by dating someone they didn't like. It's about trying to harm your parents physically.

if a man cheats on his wife, or vise versa, both the man and the woman must die. – Leviticus 20:10 Equal rights! Yeah bubba! But in Islam, the woman gets stoned while the man walks in 99.9% of the cases.

if a man sleeps with his father’s wife, both him and his father’s wife is to be put to death. – leviticus 20:11 Again we are talking a theocracy here. Hey, guess why you don't have sex with your papas wife? Dude, are you condoning the Ptolemies???

You're again referencing a historical theocracy which no longer exists and hasn't existed for thousands of years. The old testament includes all of this, not so that we'll DO it, but so that we will appreciate GRACE and forgiveness all the more!

  53. Leah Walker

"look at the westboro baptist chuch, they’re christian extremists." They may (are) extreme in their interpretation, but could someone show me where even these nuts have blown themselves up in the name of Christ and taken others with them?

You're citing passages from the Bible and apparently do not know what they're about. For one thing, they're all OLD testament, back in the days when Israel was under a THEOCRACY. Christianity is a theocracy NOWHERE in the world. It was at one time, and when professors of Christ went astray, well, God took them out (hence, there are no Christian theocracies today).

But your Allah cannot even keep his own people in line!

In fact, he's so impotent, he doesn't even punish Osama Bin Laden.

Christianity did not even exist at the time of the Old Testament.

  54. casey

this is inbelievable, how is islam the anti-christ when jesus is as much of a prophet to us as muhammed? we don't believe he's the son of god, but everything else is the same as christianity with jesus. leviticus is FULL of these same "extreme laws" in the old testament, so before you all go on about how we're extremists, look at your own religion. no religion is morally right, but it doesn't mean we all go around doing these things that people find extreme. every religion has extremists as well, look at the westboro baptist chuch, they're christian extremists.

don't let cattle graze with other kinds of cattle. - leviticus 19:19

if a man sleeps with his father's wife, both him and his father's wife is to be put to death. - leviticus 20:11

if a man sleeps with his wife and her mother they are all to be burnt to death. - leviticus 20:14

if a man or woman has sex with an animal, both human and animal must be killed. - leviticus 20:15-16

if a man has sex with a woman on her period, they are both to be cut off from their people. - leviticus 20:18

psychics, wizards, and so on are to be stoned to death. - leviticus 20:27

if a priest's daughter is a whore, she is to be burnt at the stake. - leviticus 21:9

people who have flat noses, or is blind or lame, cannot go to an altar of god. - leviticus 21:17-18

anyone who curses or blasphemes god, should be stoned to death by the community. - leviticus 24:14-16

    let's not forget deuteronomy!!!

anyone who dreams or prophesizes anything that is against god, or anyone who tries to turn you from god, is to be put to death. - deuteronomy 13:5

if anyone, even your own family suggests worshipping another god, kill them. - deuteronomy 13:6-10

if you find out a city worships a different god, destroy the city and kill all of it's inhabitants, even the animals. - deuteronomy 13:12-15

kill anyone with a different religion. - deuteronomy 17:2-7

before all of you start mocking islam, look at your own religion. athiests, that means you too. you say you don't follow a religion, but athiesm is very much as much a religion as mormons, and scientology. if you say to yourself "well, we don't follow those rules", than just how much of a christian are you? not much really. it's funny how islam is the newest religion, yet the only unchanged and truely old religion, moreso than christianity.

    1. princesspatricia

You do realize that you are trying to draw from old testament law as oppossed to the New testament law through Jesus Christ...... Christ has made ALL things new and GODS' LOVE has always remained "Unchanged and True". We must all be extremely careful when speaking of the LORD and the word of GOD. We must also be careful and mindful of our humble state, for we ourselves are not the judge, yet each one of us, living under GRACE.......

  55. Andy

Dre... did you ever think it's just a religion that has some extreme laws and etc, that has nothing to do with an anti-christ...
