The Truth Behind the Moon Landings
Documentary debunking the conspiracy theories surrounding the first moon landing. Amid an era of global political suspicion the greatest conspiracy theory of all time casts doubt on what should be the greatest achievement of the age.
Did the Apollo 11 astronauts really land on the moon, or was this an elaborate hoax by NASA to satisfy political demands?
Bill Kaysing the former head of technical publications for Rocketdyne is considered, by many, to be the father of moon conspiracy theorists.
Both he and Ralph René the author of NASA Mooned America set out their stall with all the evidence supporting their theory:
Contradicting shadows in photographs, moon walk was a slow motion film, no stars in night sky, flag fluttering in a breeze, lack of Computing power to land the lunar module, can't manipulate camera to take photographs, dust below lunar module should have been disturbed, film would be damaged by radiation... etc.

Do yourselves a favor, do not argue with a moon landing denier. They are clueless. Block them, and move on. None of their claims are true. No claims of fakery ever existed. There is tons of evidence proving them wrong. The problem is they won't listen. They will just repeat the same trash they hear on YouTube.
A Google search will clear up any hoax silliness. The problem is what facts will skeptics accept? They refuse everything put in front of them. It's 2024, not a single credible source ever came forward with any evidence of fakery. That's pretty strange isn't it??? It sure is, it cannot remain a secret for that long.
The idiots that still think man never landed on the moon, are hopeless. They need to give back their high school diploma. They think they are so smart, and they are one of the select few that figured out the hoax. Yeah sure!! Thousands of scientists, and engineers vs some clown that says "We never went to the moon" Yeah let's believe him. There is TONS of of available evidence, that proves humans landed on the moon. The problem? They won't listen. They will just insult everyone, and laugh. What happened to the "Open minded thinking?" Strange that went out the window all of a sudden. Many seem to be foreigners, from England, or someplace overseas.
Deniers claim all sorts of outlandish things. Many lack basic understanding of science and physics, that's where there problem lies. Some will claim be a " critical thinker" and don't believe everything on TV. I agree, however why do those same people believe a YouTube video, by some shady people and listen blindly to their claims? Unbelievable. Not everything is a hoax. Google is your friend skeptics!! Don't be brainwashed into thinking everything is a conspiracy.
Yawn....... All of these stupid "hoax" claims have all been thoroughly explained and debunked. People should stop being lazy, and do an internet search. Not all conspiracy claims are true. There is butt loads of facts to prove man landed on the moon several times. Uneducated people flock to sites like this, trying to look intelligent.
Moon hoax deniers have nothing. Their claims are silly, but they still continue with their onslaught of wild accusations. Most never bothered to do any research, but oddly act like they are experts. "We never went to the moon" A bold statement from people who know literally NOTHING about science. They have no credibility, but want to be taken seriously. Pathetic. I know we've been to the moon several times by researching, and visiting an air and space museum, and not just being a keyboard warrior, who believes every YouTube video.
How did they get past the VAB is a common question. They targeted the weakest points, and went through quickly, thus minimizing radiation exposure. The key was not to linger. Many self appointed Apollo skeptics don't even know there are different stages for the rocket. They see something on TV, and jump to conclusions without fact checking. Today with the age of the internet, hoaxes and other crazy theories continue to flourish.
There is plenty of evidence against moon hoax advocates, only problem is they choose to ignore it. Instead, they focus on sketchy sites, with false information, then they come here, and act like they are so smart, and everyone else is a fool. Nice try guys, but all of your silly claims have been thoroughly debunked, and cannot stand up to scrutiny when examined. Most claims are laughable, at best. What's funny is elementary school children are more educated than some of these anti NASA folks. That's pretty sad! Why some are so hateful towards space travel, I have no clue. Most don't even have any basic understanding of physics, photography, or how thrust behaves in a vacuum, but they spout off here, like they are experts. They see a few pictures, and jump to conclusions. They don't even know there was more than one stage to get to the moon. They think the landing module was all that was used, and then make fun of it's appearance. Easy to do, when you know zero about it in the first place. There was also 2 stages to the landing module, one to land, the other to blast off, both with their own fuel. Maybe instead of making fun of things, learn about them first. Not everything you don't understand is a conspiracy.
There never was any hoax evidence to begin with, but remember nowadays, with the internet, lies and loads of misinformation can spread very rapidly. Claims of a fake moon landing have been around for decades, and it's easy to be sucked in to all of the outlandish claims made by some who aren't familiar with science. Numerous sites try very hard to claim everything was faked on a soundstage, but science and facts explain why that's an idiotic statement . Some just choose to believe whatever a specific site tells them, and they never thought of fact checking, to see if it was true. I'm not sure if it's pure laziness, or just people being thick headed, but anyone can do an internet search, and have all of their questions answered , and finally put this nonsense to rest. Many claim they distrust the government, and that's ok, but does it sound plausible, that everything you don't understand is fake? Some have mentioned that why no one has blown the lid off everything if it never happened. Easy because it did. Think about being to the moon six times, and getting away with faking it. That's not going to happen. People live in their little conspiracy filled dream world, and think that everyone on earth is stupid but them. Sure guys.!! Social media would have exposed everything had anything not been real. Visit a space and science museum, and learn why conspiracy theories like this are wrong, and only for the gullible.
A hoax of this magnitude could not be kept under wraps for long, regardless of how many people were involved. Anyways, claims from skeptics are easily explained, and cannot hold up to scrutiny when examined. It's ridiculous that some people claim everything was "faked". They aren't taking the time to do proper research, they are down their rabbit holes so far, they cannot get themselves out.
Nothing was ever faked. The conspiracy crowd are so blinded by their own ignorance, so they won't listen. Many make the mistake of watching a YouTube video, and believing it's claims of fakery. Not all YouTube Videos are created equal, some are informative, others like most conspiracy videos, are filled with bold claims and false information, plus conversations are taken out of context. You just have to weed out the conspiracy nonsense, but unfortunately conspiracy sites are where many people get their "evidence" from, all which is easily explained, but remember, hoax believers aren't going to listen or care about facts. In their minds, they are the only smart ones whose eyes are open, while the rest of the world are just gullible fools, when in reality just the opposite is true.
Folks that insist everything they don't understand is somehow faked, only examine the surface. Take the moon landings, most skeptics, get their "evidence" sourced from conspiracy videos, and from poorly researched content online. If someone baits you into an online argument , remember some are trolls, while others have their minds already made up. The facts they ignore, will not change their minds.
Deniers of Apollo, are not going to even listen to reason. They are not capable of understanding science. Most of them have a horrible chip on their shoulders, and think they know everything there is to know. Hilarious. It's 2025, and we still have uneducated conspiracy loons believing in unreputable sites, that are filled with bad science and lies. Apollofraud, and Nasascam, are 2 sites that are good examples. Skeptics use the same tired tactics, and ignore anything they don't understand. There are dozens of websites that explain everything, so why these know it alls don't do better research, is beyond me. Not that they are interested in learning or anything like that.
Ask yourself a question... Is it really worth wasting your time arguing with someone who only wants to hear their side of the story? Probably not. It's tempting to try and educate conspiracy addicts, unfortunately it only ends up in them insulting you, and ignoring any evidence they are shown. In their minds, they cannot be wrong, bso why would they listen to the other sides argument? They won't look at the facts, so why bother? We know the landings happened, due to mountains of evidence that's available. Sadly, that's the evidence they will ignore.
Dealing with deniers is a lot like talking to a brick wall. Forget it.
It's mainly about pride with them. Usually, conspiracy believers start small, then move onto bigger things. It can end up being a gateway to other crazy beliefs.
Who doesn't like the idea of a cover up after all? Years ago, many would spread rumors, now with the Internet, people can spread misinformation very rapidly. One thing many do forget , is they all think the moon landing was faked. Well, it's plural. moonLANDINGS. If they faked anything, it would be done once, and thats it. It was done a total of nine times. Out of the nine landings, six were manned. Now if some people can't even acknowledge that there were more than one landing, then there is no hope for them as humans. I don't recommend even trying to reason with a denier, as it's simply not going to do any good. You can't argue or educate a person who is only one sided in their beliefs. A lot of them also think they are funny belittling everyone who doesn't agree with them. Half of these people know little to nothing about what they are denying in the first place. Numerous sites explain all of their claims, but they will only laugh, and continue with their insults. Bunch of simpletons.
You cannot take moon landing deniers and their overdramatic nonsense seriously. They are laughable at best. Most of them are ignorant of any hard scientific facts, their sources from which they get their lies from are laughable also.
Brain dead Apollo deniers will not let a little thing like FACTS get in their way. From 1969 to 1972, there were 6 crewed Missions to the moon. This is factual, and is not up for debate, regardless of what some think. The British seem to be among those as well. This one's been a favorite to pick on by hardcore skeptics.... The Soviets acknowledged the landings. Had their been any semi credible reason to doubt that we didn't get Neil Armstrong to the moon and back, the Soviet media, would have immediately called us out on it. Now, modern hoax enthusiasts, will say the Soviets were part of the deception, and they just went along with everything. There is no proof to support such a silly claim! Remember this was done 6 times.... Someone would have exposed ANY fakery if there was any. That's where hoax nuts fall short , they miss the big picture.
Another thing I've noticed is this Apollofraud site. It seems to have been around for years. Sucking in gullible people with its nonsense. The author of the site is unfamiliar with even the most basic facts about Apollo.
He still claims the tires of the rovers use pneumatic tires, when they do not. They are non pneumatic, they were made of zinc coated steel strands, attached to aluminum rims and discs. Titanium chevrons on the tires provided traction.
The same backdrop confusion....These claims overlook the natural similarities in lunar geography, and the scientific context of the photos, and also the moons uniform terrain, camera characteristics, consistent lighting, and photographers techniques.
Remember on the moon there is no atmosphere. Take a picture here on Earth of a big open space, with no trees and mountains in the background. Now move a couple of miles, and look at the mountains again. They look similar. Same on the moon.
The problem is, what will a hoax believer accept as evidence? Probably nothing that anyone will show them. Would they like to be educated, or stay in their hoax believer mindset forever? Most of the time, they just laugh, and hurdle insults at anyone that wishes to explain why their beliefs are flawed. That's a really horrible life. Maybe one day they can wake up, and realize not everything is a hoax in this world, simply because they don't understand it.
Well Mr. Derek, apparently you were a 19 year old idiot, when you and your pub buddies laughed and thought it was. fake. Have you ever even bothered to look I up? Not your Sam Colby trash, but genuine research. People like you already made fools of themselves by trying so hard to look intelligent. Let's start with the basics. NASA made no such statements about the magnetosphere. Where did you hear that whopper???? They simply traveled farther away from earth. You might know this had you opened your eyes. There were 382 kilograms of moon rock samples that were independently verified by lunar laboratories. China, India, and Japan have photographed the landing sites. There were radio and telescopic observations, along with ground based telescopes. More evidence includes the Apollo missions being tracked by non NASA personnel. Even the great Soviet encyclopedias, which reported them as factual. Not to mention the loads of pictures and videos taken over the years. In conclusion, you and your " pub buddies" are in need of an education. All of your stupid claims are wrong. So are we to trust a bunch of drunk fools, or actual scientific evidence? Please dude, get of of here, and go learn something. You are the laughing stock on this site!!! Everyone says so.
To all the know it alls who think they are experts, simply because they stumbled upon a website that claims it's all "fake". I have news for you! The landings happened, and nothing you spout on about will ever change that. Some sites spread false information, simply because they lack knowledge of anything space related. Many never even took a physics class. Spare us all your nasty comments, and all of your silly claims. No hoax evidence ever existed! Anyone with half a brain knows everything is genuine. Not because we "saw it on TV", but by researching, and getting educated, and not spreading lies. Go to a science and aerospace museum, see how things are done. Not everything you don't understand is a hoax. Many of you think headed skeptics weren't even born when the landings took place, and now you are experts? Not a single credible source ever came forward with any evidence. Why? The landings happened , that's why. No amount of your whining and denial will ever change that. The Guardian.com, History.com, are filled with facts and actual evidence to point you in the right direction, not some yokel who is a skeptic, and then posts his personal opinions on YouTube, or site, claiming "it's all a hoax". So what makes this person credible all of a sudden? It doesn't. Many people love conspiracy theories, simply because it makes them feel smart, and empowered. Many have never accomplished anything significant in their lives, so they have to troll, and pick on things they know little about. There are many people who frequent these sites spreading their lies, and making fun of the people who know the landings are genuine. What a world we live in.
Moon hoax advocates, and other self appointed Apollo skeptics, will try their best to convince everyone that everything was faked in a Hollywood studio. Funny, not a single person ever came forward to expose this fraud. That's because conspiracy believers think they are experts in all they do. They stumbled upon a few websites that tell them what they want to hear, and poof...... They are instant experts on everything. You really think NASA is trying to fool the world, when any 8th grader could spot the fraud? What hoax nuts believe in, is basically misinformation. Don't tell them that, they won't listen to anything other than what they believe. Everything else is wrong.
Flat earthers are the dumbest people in this world. Moon landings deniers have to settle for being the second dumbest. Please do your research, there is loads of misinformation floating around on the internet.
Being skeptical is one thing, but to be blindly close minded to all contrary evidence, is totally insane. I know hoax nuts think they are smarter than thousands of accomplished scientists, but please, put aside your egos, and get educated. Sam Colby and his Apollo Hoax, are filled with wrong information. He's also deceptive in his claims. He's no expert on anything like physics, basic photography, or rocket technology. What will it take to educate hoax nuts? Is that even possible? Will they just remain in their conspiracy filled bubble for the rest of their lives? Maybe one day we can have a serious talk, and they can learn that not everything they don't understand, is fake.
More than 800lbs of moon rocks and soil samples were taken from the moon throughout the years. They have been tested by labs all over the world, and they are genuine. Numerous people try and claim the landings never took place, claiming fraud. They claimed the same backdrops were used, the flag is waiving in a vacuum, there are no stars in any of the photos, plus the shadows don't match up. These claims along with everything else, have been addressed numerous times over the years. The same backdrops...... First, the pictures were taken miles apart. Drive along a highway here on Earth, and observe the mountains in the background . They barely move, but the trees move by quickly . It's perception . On the moon there is no atmosphere, and no trees to obstruct your view, so the mountains barely move, and it looks like you are in the same area. The no stars in photos..... It's daylight on the moon first off. Next it's camera settings, the shudder speed. The brightly lit surface of the moon drowns out the existing stars. The shadows .... It's basically the terrain. It's causing the shadows to be off. The same effect can be seen here on Earth . Everything here is available to anyone online. Unfortunately most hard core deniers will just ignore everything. Sadly there are many sites promoting misinformation, and outright lies, Nasascam, and Apollowfraud are some to watch for. Another video, " A funny thing on the way to the moon" a favorite amoung conspiracy nuts, is yet another laughable attempt at trying to discredit one of mankind's best achievements. Most deniers weren't even born at the time man landed on the moon, and know little to nothing about science or physics. These should be the last people anyone should listen to.
It's probably best not to get involved arguing with someone who claims Apollo was a fraud. Whatever evidence they are shown, will be labeled as fake. It doesn't matter what it is. Life is to short to waste on the ignorance of some self appointed skeptics. China, Japan, and India, have observed the landing sites, and confirmed all the artifacts left behind. NASA also has all the detailed flight logs, scientific data, and all the astronauts conversations. Naturally, I'm sure skeptics will simply claim NASA is deceiving everyone, and they are not to be trusted. Really, it doesn't matter where facts or evidence come from, they wouldn't believe anything that goes against their claims, it's as simple as that.
Lot of opinions here. What I don't get is even when presented with concrete evidence disproving the hoax, some nuts still insist everything was a big show. Many who deny everything, weren't even born when the landings took place, and are jealous because their generation hasn't accomplished such an amazing feat, and they have to belittle people in order to make themselves feel superior. Claims of fakery will always exist, due to people's ignorance of hard scientific facts, and the urge for them to feel important, by thinking they are the only ones intelligent enough to figure out they have been duped. Don't you think it would have been exposed? After several missions to the moon, had anything been fishey, someone, would have blown the lid off everything. I guess many self proclaimed skeptics feel they are the only ones smart enough to figure it all out by themselves. The education system has definitely failed these people. Sadly many nuts get sucked in by conspiracy theories, and are in so deep, they can't get themselves out.
