The Day My God DiedThe Day My God Died is a feature-length documentary that presents the stories of young girls whose lives have been shattered by the child sex trade. They describe the day they were abducted from their village and sold into sexual servitude as, The Day My God Died. The film provides actual footage from the brothels of Bombay, known even to tourists as "The Cages," captured with "spy camera" technology. It weaves the stories of girls, and their stolen hopes and dreams, into an unforgettable examination of the growing plague of child sex slavery.

Through the film we come to know victims such as Gina, sold into sex slavery at age 7 and beaten with sticks and aluminum rods. Anita, lured by a friend then drugged and sold at age 12, was beaten and threatened that she would be buried alive. Girls are gang-raped, beaten and forced to service up to 20 clients a day as they are held in perpetual sexual servitude.

The film also introduces us to the heroes of the movement to abolish child sex slavery – non-profit organizations which rescue and care for former sex slaves. Some victims have emerged to form their own underground railway out of slavery. Maili, trafficked at 19 along with her infant daughter, risks her life to help other girls. We see Jyoti, sold at age12, lead a raid on a brothel resulting in the rescue of seven girls and the arrest of two brothel owners.

Children are the commodity consumed by the voracious and sophisticated international sex trade. Recruiters capture them, smugglers transport them, brothel owners enslave them, corrupt police betray them and customers rape and infect them. Every person in the chain profits except for the girls, who pay the price with their lives. Sexual servitude is a virtual death sentence. During the making of the film, in Bombay alone, 90 new cases of HIV are reported every hour and the girls suffer up to an 80% HIV/AIDS infection rate.

This is a utter disgrace in humanity that men have striped these women of their dignity. In another unrelated video regarding those drop off centers for the children of these imprisoned sex trafficked girls those centers become easy pickings for pedophiles from the UK who go there to volunteer and have easy access to these toddlers because no one dares to question them. Why are men depraved? Until men cease their depravity this will never end.

Painful to watch but this is the tragic reality of many children and young girls being sold into the sex trade. I am full of admiration for women like Anuradha Koirala of Maiti Nepal and other organizations who are working tirelessly to free them.

Heartbreaking to watch... But how incredible the strength they have to continue on and help others while also fighting their own demons. It makes you look within yourself, and your life and re-evaluate where you feel you may have been wronged. These girls are a true inspiration and I hope this documentary gets the publicity it deserves in order to get more support for this cause.

I think the title is fitting, a childs innocence is something we all thought God preserves, to hear of a child being subjected to such things is beyond comprehension to a God fearing person. Sex is not perverted, its the person that makes it perverted.

It's chilling to watch their cold disconnection with their emotion. They'll sit there and describe about how they were beaten, raped, and forced to do horrible things. All without a tear in their eye. They have no souls left.

I have repeat this movie many time as if I want to found answer to the question: Why ? So young women are traited so badly, with no respect of their needs (playing, smiling, loving themself...). We like freedom but we need restrictions and loi to make sure that there is no abuse of human rights all over the world and for any reason. Those women are "prostitutes" but they are innocents. They hav'nt choose their way of living, they loose their life. Only bad memories and sick body with dangerous deseases, that's what they receive from humanity and progress. Where we gone? We need justice, we need to change and we need God more than any time ago.

I have read about these happenings in books and public speeches and sometimes even wondered if they were true!!! but after watching this movie i am completely stunned by the utter hopelessness and pain that these women have gone through.for real! it is assumed by many that it is the women who "choose" to get into prostitution and blame the victim!! i salute the women who are trying to help others from being lured into this hell.

Wouw, that's coming close.
A substantial movie. Showing courageous people, which are making a difference.
It reminds me of the many rapes to 'paria's' in states like Madhya Pradesh. It's almost save in India to rape a woman from a lower cast. She will not go to the police, and if she does, they will do nothing. Then on HIV. This is spread out all over India specially by truckdrivers who are moving all over the country, catch up hiv along the way, and bring it to their wives. To make things more complex, there's a big hypocrise / taboe on sex in Inda. No sex for traditional marriage. So with whom can you have sex if or as long you are not married? and once you're married, ........many search sex elswhere. So there's a huge sexual need, and it goes easily into the dark.
Because of this dark side of prostitution in India, there are not so many sex tourists going to India as far as I know, while Thailand receives 10 thousands of them each year.

This makes me so sad, yet we who have everything, access to healthcare medication and treatments always seem to complain we dont have enough. Its time we take action and help others, those who are in dire need. I know that even though there may be a lot of evil in this world, there is still a lot of good.

A big salute for all the people who are doing their best to rescue these innocent girls. May you have the god's bless in everything you do to rescue and protect the girls and children.
What a shame for most indian authorities for not taking any actions against these pimps and criminals. You are showing big movies and giving nice stories about your country. At the end of the day you cannot control your own people. It is hard to believe what has happened to a country with a great history. All of you should be ashamed about these things happening in your country.

Some men are freaks and can't control themselves. Maybe female children should be born hideously ugly as a protective mechanism... Then one day, when they are of age, magically, and overnight, they blossom into beautiful womanhood like butterflies... I do not understand how these men could take pleasure without giving it, knowing that they were hurting someone; do they fool themselves into thinking these girls enjoy any part of this? If they have a problem they can't get away from, haven't they heard of masturbating? The simplest observation in the world is that actual men protect and honor women throughout their lives...

I am really trying to find a way to use my own energy and mind to make a better world where those things won't be seen anymore. We have similar problems in our country but little by little things have been improving. So I really encourage those who are "working" hard to help people in need.

Every religion has violence, rape, mass murder and degrading of women. The Koran has horrible things but the Christian Bible has the same amount. It seems that this commentating has gone down to petty theological thinking and immature finger pointing/insulting.

What a way to belittle the situation of these brave females by insulting each other religions when really the common denominator is not religion but money, power and exploitation. Every logical thinking person knows that anyone is capable of doing this no matter what culture, religion or creed.

Hmph, these men sure make lots of money off these women. If you don't like seeing this then just turn your head away, this is how the underworld works in the world. Go back to praying in your church or mosque or whatever religious structure you go to. Religon has an extremely minor part/no part in the slavery of children. Men do this for money, why? Well this is their way of making a living where they live, they don't have the luxury of getting a job that dosen't involve any dirty work, or mabey they just like this type of thing...? Islam, Christianity, they both use fear, they both are full of blood, they both are full of there own beliefs hopes of the afterlife, i do not like either religon since it involves FEAR of burning for eternity if you don't like a guy who has killed 2.2 million people compared to some guy (devil) who has killed 10 - for christianty, and what i don't like about Islam is its objectifying of women and treating them like there serfs/slaves. Would you all stop fighting over whos sky daddy is better? It gets quite annoying to the bystanders who are trying to go about their day. I do not approve over slavery, I do not approve of rape. All i'm saying is, this ain't about religon. This is the underworld of society. This is how they make a living. By "they who make a living" I mean the people who enslave women, it's obvious the women do not make money off this.

That is all

Believers, make war on the infidels who dwell around you. Deal firmly with them. Know that God is with the righteous.
Quran 9:123

Muhammad is God's apostle. Those who follow him are ruthless to the unbelievers but merciful to one another.
Quran 48:29

Women are your fields: go, then, into your fields whence you please.
Quran 2:223

Men have authority over women because God has made the one superior to the other, and because they spend their wealth to maintain them. Good women are obedient. They guard their unseen parts because God has guarded them. As for those from whom you fear disobedience, admonish them and forsake them in beds apart, and beat them.
Quran 4:34

I FULLY APPRECIATE WITH THE SAYING OF MR.106, UM GOING THRU (THE HOLY QURAN, THE BHAWAT GEETA, AND MADE MY MIND TO GO THRU WITH HOLY BIBLE AS WELL) TILL NOW WHT I HAVE FOUND IS, WE HUMAN HAVE 4GOTTON OUR RELITION, ACTUALLY. WE HV ASTRAYED SOMEWHERE IN THE WAY. WHEN UM READING THESE 2 HOLY BOOKS UM FINDING NOTHING BAD IN BOTH. AND BOTH LEADS TO A SINGLE GOD. U ALL SUD READ UR OWN RELIGIOUS BOOKS AND C WHT IT IS MENTIONED IN IT ,,, KRISHNA SAID THERE IS ONE GOD, MOHAMMAD ALSO LEAD TO THE SAME SINGLE GOD(ALLAH), SAI SAYS "SAB KA MALIK EK", ISHA MASHI NEVER SAID WORSHIP ME INSTEAD HE ALSO SAID GUIDED PEOPLE TO WORSHIP THE GOD WHOME HE USED TO SAY HIS FATHER, BUDDHA NEVER SAID WORSHIP ME RATHER HE ALSO SAID FIND THE REAL TRUTH... ACTUALLY, WE SUD PUT SOME CLEARLY UNDERSTANDABLE HOLY STORIES AND POINTS FROM ALL THE RELIGIOUS BOOKS INTO ONE CHAPTER IN OUR EDUCATION BOOKS... I HOPE THIS WILL CREAT A FEELING OF RESPECT IN OUR NEW GENERATION... I KILL A BIRD COZ I DONT HV FEELING FOR IT COZ I DONT KNOW MUCH ON IT. BUT IF SOMEBODY TEACHES ME ABOUT THE LIFE OF THT BIRD , ABOUT THE NEST THE CHICKS AND THEIR EFFORTS ON FINDING PREY FOR THEIR CHICKS, OBVIOUSLY I WILL HV SOME KIND OF FEELING ON THT BIRD.. SO, IN THE SAME WAY WE FIGHT WITH OTHER RELIGION COZ WE DO NOT UNDERSTAND THE PURE KNOWLEDGE IN IT. AND WE DONT KNOW COZ NO BODY TEACHES US. AND WE ARE ALWAYS MISGUIDED ON OTHER'S RELIGION BY SOME BODY WHO DOESN'T KNOW HIS/HER OWN RELIGION PERFECTLY. AND THIS IS THE MAIN PROBLEM WHT IS HAPPENING IN THE WORLD.. BELIEVE ME U READ QURAN IT IS SO PURE , TRUE AND KNOWLEDGABLE. AND ALSO READ GEETA IT IS ALSO SO PURE , TURE AND KNOWLEDGABLE. AND I HOPE IT IS SAME IN BIBLE ASWELL. SO DEAR ALL PLEASE DO NOT FLOAT ON A WRONG SENCE AND NEVER SPEAK IN OTHERS SAYING. READ YOURSELF AND UNDERSTAND IT PURELY. AND WE ALL MUST UNDERTAND ONE THING THT WEN BELIVE ON GOD THEN WE MUST UNDERSTAND ONE THING THT THERE CANNOT BE ANY THING NEGETIVE OR WRONG IN THE CREATION OF GOD. AND EVERY THING IS CREATED BY GOD. .............. READING THE POOR GIRLS AS IN THIS DOCUMENTRY, I HEARTLY PRAY TO THE LOARD OF EVERY THINGS AND EVERY ELEMENTS , WHO IS THE MASTER OF ALL BEINGS, WHO IS THE OWNER OF ALL THE RELIGIONS AND EXISTENCE, MAY YOU BE SO KIND TO PROTECT THESE INNOCENT GIRLS AND MAY PUT HUMANITY AND KIND HEART IN THE PEOPLE WHO HAS ASTRAYED FROM THE RIGHT PATH OF HUMANITY.....SAY.AMIN..

first of all, guys, stop trying to talk sense into these muslims. its not going to work. they are far too brainwashed and blinded by their so called true faith. all u guys will do is end up wasting your time and energy on a bunch of rocks.

its beyond ridiculous how muslims are quick to criticize other religions but the moment someone says a word about theirs, they and their entire clan will get aggressive. this entire religion is probably the most insecure bunch on this planet. and by this i really mean EVERY muslim,, cos u never see a muslim, no matter how secular or liberal he claims to be, criticise another muslim for any wrong. its like a muslim just cannot do any wrong, and even if they did, u can never admit it in public! big taboo!! this islamic restriction on our freedom of speech must be crushed down before it gets out of hand.. sadly sometimes it does feel like its too late already.

all religions are f--ked up to some extent, but the major three have taken it to stupendous levels. things were still much more in control with polytheistic religions, but the monotheistic ones have totally screwed this world up. what islam is today, christianity was not so long ago.

as for the stupid f***s claims that hinduism or india or indian democracy (mind you im no fan of it, it has its fair share of issues) is the root of all sex slavery and what not, a major chunk of these sex slaves go to arab sheikhs. villages across south india see thousands of young girls being 'married off' to sheikhs thrice their age, essentially being sold off as a sex slave. the biggest market for child porn is not india, but europe. brazil has a bigger child sex industry than india does. thailand has a huge sex industry and the major clientele is european men, not indian men... go figure.

the saddest part though is that most of the comments on a documentary this sad and moving are about religion.. says something about humans as a species. in many ways we're worse than animals.

We are all one, whether Hindu, Moslem, Christian, Buddhist, Jewish, Indian, Nepalese, English, American etc. Religion, ethnicity and culture are accidents of birth. What unites us is more important than what divides us. We are one human family.

"Cleave unto that which draweth you together and uniteth you."

"Ye are the fruits of one tree and the leaves of one branch."

The Golden Rule, enshrined in all the major world faiths states that we should do unto others as we would have them do unto us. If we all stopped to think about this and put it into practice then the world would be a much better place. That rule in itself would mean that people would come before profit and that the trafficking of children and women would stop.

As a Baha'i I feel fortunate to belong to a faith which teaches the equality of men and women, that women and men are like the wings of a bird, which must both be strong in order for the bird of humanity to fly. However, sadly in the world today women are still too often looked down upon, oppressed and enslaved. The Baha'i Faith teaches that this is wrong, that women are an extremely important element in society and the world. Women have special qualities which are much needed in the world today. The Baha'i teachings even goes so far as to say that until and unless women participate equally in the affairs of the world, we will not have world peace.

Thank you for this documentary. It is very moving. All the women who speak out and fight for justice are very courageous. The men who join them in doing this are also to be applauded. They give us hope for a brighter future and a better world.

Dear Moderator,
firstly a very powerful and thought proviking documentary.

Secondly Please delete all these religious and nationalistic commentaries above. if these guys are still discussing these petty issues then they obviously have not understood this documentary.

its about time people realise that certain section of humanity will exploit others to any extent just to meet their own personal needs irrespective of faith and country.

If you cannot help please be aware and safeguard your own children. Just picking on specifics to put down a country or faith serves no purpose and furthermore trivializes the effort of the team that made this documentary and the efforts off all the people trying to find a solution for this problem.

Because I am sure when they go into save these girls they are not using any religious or national filters to screen out who they should and should not rescue.

Thanks

@ Kate I agree with you.

I saw this posted on FaceBook and it made me cry before I even read it because I honestly cannot believe I live in a world where 'human beings' behave like this.

As a female and a mother of two daughters this just makes me sick. The point of the documentary is to bring this disgusting behaviour out in to the world and for all of us to take action and stop it happening.

I will not be drawn in to religious nonsense because it is pretty much always at the root of all war and dispicable behaviour.

What we all need to consider is that these are living breathing children, that are killed, abused, taken and their right to a decent life has been forcibly removed.

As people of the so called civilised world our thoughts and actions should be focused on ceasing this totally incomprehensible 'lifestyle'. Children have a right to be treated with respect, dignity and freedom.

Any adult that condones this or participates in this should be held accountable and that's putting it mildly.

Unfortunately, I have to say thank-you for doing this documentary and that we all should not rest until this has ended.

This is to do with people, not beliefs and yet you are here squabbling over your personal agendas.

Many on this page have asked just how the men who attend these brothels and support this trade can do so. I ask, how can you exploit these women further by using their documentary, their stories to try and preach your own agendas whether they be religious, political, whatever? This is no better.

The issue here is clearly humanitarian and makes the arguments here appear very petty and selfish. Very disappointing to see.
