The Day My God Died
The Day My God Died is a feature-length documentary that presents the stories of young girls whose lives have been shattered by the child sex trade. They describe the day they were abducted from their village and sold into sexual servitude as, The Day My God Died.
The film provides actual footage from the brothels of Bombay, known even to tourists as “The Cages,” captured with “spy camera” technology. It weaves the stories of girls, and their stolen hopes and dreams, into an unforgettable examination of the growing plague of child sex slavery.
Through the film we come to know victims such as Gina, sold into sex slavery at age 7 and beaten with sticks and aluminum rods. Anita, lured by a friend then drugged and sold at age 12, was beaten and threatened that she would be buried alive. Girls are gang-raped, beaten and forced to service up to 20 clients a day as they are held in perpetual sexual servitude.
The film also introduces us to the heroes of the movement to abolish child sex slavery – non-profit organizations which rescue and care for former sex slaves. Some victims have emerged to form their own underground railway out of slavery. Maili, trafficked at 19 along with her infant daughter, risks her life to help other girls. We see Jyoti, sold at age12, lead a raid on a brothel resulting in the rescue of seven girls and the arrest of two brothel owners.
Children are the commodity consumed by the voracious and sophisticated international sex trade. Recruiters capture them, smugglers transport them, brothel owners enslave them, corrupt police betray them and customers rape and infect them. Every person in the chain profits except for the girls, who pay the price with their lives. Sexual servitude is a virtual death sentence. During the making of the film, in Bombay alone, 90 new cases of HIV are reported every hour and the girls suffer up to an 80% HIV/AIDS infection rate.

very very sad, devastating yet powerful film… the human will to survive… thank you for making this docu .
This is world largest democracy INDIA where every body freely spreading HIV
Most documentaries make me feel intrigued, unless they are political, then I usually feel angry. This is the first documentary that made me actually experience all emotions and the first that made me actually weep. The ignorance of mankind astonishes me and yet the most powerful countries would rather fight wars on corporate fronts instead of the moral and ethics fronts.
What does it take for us to understand that living under a monetary system is wrong?
Zafar-these girls are not “FREELY” spreading AIDS. They are forced to!
This is result of Indian (Hindu) culture where the married couples kill their female children before or after birth of the baby. This is same ignorance (jahaliya) which prophet of Islam combated against when, pre-Islamic tribes of Arabia used to bury their female babies alive. Thus creating a shortage of females. India is the only country where Males exceeds Female in numbers. According to UN estimates one million females are aborted/murdered every year. Thus creating a shortage resulting in kidnapping of female child one every 45 seconds. These female children are sold as child bride to much older men, sometime to multiple men of same family. The traffickers not only kidnap female children from Nepal, but also from Bangla Desh, Ceylon, Burma, Afghanistan and Iraq to be sold in India. By some consensus there are 80,000 young girls missing from Afghanistan and same numbers from Iraq, sold in India. The Civil Servants and Police of India are involved in this heinous crimes. The Elite behind the so called world body will not chastise India for such crimes because they themselves are involved in much more sinister crimes. Haiti is one example.
The only hope that humanity has is ‘ALLAH’ that he decree HIS WORD to save humankind from such and other onslaught.
this is so sad
Poor girls, I pray for them and I wish all the victims a good journey to Valhalla after their death. (since that is all I can do right now)
Allah the only hope…lets see kill …kill…kill that is the word from Muslims. the teachings of Jesus are they ONLY hope….but of course you have never read the Gospels about Jesus life for yourself OR you would not make such an claim about Allah being the only hope. I challenge u before you comment on anything else to read the Gospel of Matthew in the Bible. (I have already studied all the major world religions in college and Truth is obvious to those with a humble heart that are truly willing to do anything to find the Truth, again, you will never find Truth unless you are humble.)

HELLO
i feel sad really sad.Hope our society becomes good enough to understand to give values to life not only these helpless women and other too.We live in a free world and i am much fortunate to have a normal happy life but when i see these girls i fell sad and think why have we become too insensitive and down with moral that we cannot value a human life.I pray that they all lead a good life and not forced to do this activities, lets us all learn that life has value and we should all help to make it better and better everyday.
@waqas-you should be shamed of yourself and you dont need to justify you religion. Its a human life problem and we are born as human not as a religion.Till your knowledge for india is concerned keep it with you,you are no good enough to comment on INDIA, to praise your ISLAM and tell HINDU is bad.If i open up chapter of your ALLAH, 100 out of 90 people will tell how taliban had made rule where womens were shot dead and many other thing,so please let this sensitive issue be confined to humanity no god and other things
UP WITH HUMANITY.
@waqas, you mean the same allah that married a 6 year old gilr and had sex with her when she was 9? that pedophile mohammad?
yes i know allah is not mohammad it was a mistake, however it still applies, mohhamad the prophet of allah was a pedophile bottom line.
Epicurus – are you here to watch documentaries and learn something, or are you here to spread division and misdirection?
Dear Commentator(s),
Peace be with you,
Hope you are keeping well.
Any claimant requires evidence(s), it’s easy to make accusations. Hence, your claim of Muhammad being a paedophilia demands evidence.
Please do take into account by using offensive language towards any system of belief will not benefit either party thus by this I would suggest, if you have reasonable doubts about any faith please take it with the authority of that faith thus you may derive a better understanding, of course, you may not agree with them totally but at least it will prevent one from misrepresenting the case in totality.
When you make such ill comments you are offending over a billion Muslims globally. Let us have constructive discussion & exchange of knowledge.
Highly appreciate your kindness. Thank you.
Shame on all of you bringing petty arguments of difference of religion into this. Shame, shame, shame.
Regardless of one’s faith, or even lack of faith, we all can agree that these girls deserve better and that this inhuman and cruel practice ends. I hope you can all put your personal biases behind you and unite in the simple virtue of being a good person.
Maybe one day you’ll all realize just how the same we all are, we each simply decide to put a different face on it. These girls wouldn’t have challenged your blessings just because it may not have matched their personal beliefs, they would simply feel the good intentions and kindness behind them.
The men who pay for sex with the girls know good and well they are being held in sexual slavery and are children. How can these men do this? How can they live with the knowledge of what have they done – paid for sex with a child? WHO IS THEIR GOD???
Prophet Mohamed married Ayesha when she was 15. All Abu Bakar’s chidren were born before Hijrah, that’s about 14 years before. In Islam, puberty is the consenting age. Some narrators made mistakes, can’t blame them.
Walad you are quite right, but this was not abuse, or exploitation, it was marriage.
Jazakallah Khair
@Syly1212
So according to you, it’s ok to marry a 7 year old girl, then have sex with her, as long as she consents?
@young you need to study Islam a little more and also read or re-read Walad’s comment. I believe what ever Allah has decreed is all right, and He decreed that girls that have reached PUBERTY can marry. I do not feel a need to otherwise explain any aspect of Islam to a kuffar.
Allahu Akbar
I’ll take that as a “Yes”.
LOL @ Syly…not only does he admit to being a pedophile, or at least condoning pedophilia, but he also goes as far as saying he doesnt have to explain his immorality to a “kuffar”. lets examine this word.
The word k?fir is the active participle of the root K-F-R “to cover”. As a pre-Islamic term it described farmers burying seeds in the ground, covering them with soil while planting (Surah 57 Al-Hadid (Iron) Ayah 20;). Thus, the word k?fir implies the meaning “a person who hides or covers”.
so he insults you and says he doesnt have to explain his actions to the likes of you.
however, in his religion this is all permissible. and this is why islam should be illegal and is a disgrace of the human race.
apparently the box wont allow arabic text. that is what the question marks are.
@Ali, im here to watch documentaries, learn something, and hopefully encourage people to use their brains all at the same time.
but is it okay for people to be abusive to other religions but not Islam? i was only responding to someone who was speaking negatively themselves….why was I chastised?
I’m hear to watch documentaries and learn. But more importantly than that I am here to QUESTION what I have just been told. How can I learn if I don’t do that?
Discussion with others is how ideas and knowledge is learned and spread. It is the driving force of progression.
Meaning of…
@Word: I am not a man, I am a woman.
Kuffar
Meaning:
Kuffar is the plural of the word Kafir. It means ‘unbelievers’.
Grammar:
plural; singular=kafir;
Syly I also know that your religions permits you to lie to us Kuffar, so how is it that we can trust anything you are saying?
you know and I know the word was used as an insult.
and i notice you still wont talk about the prophet Mohammad being a pedophile.
why are you defending someone who had sex with a child?? A CHILD!!!!
@young No one taught me Islam. The first time I met a Muslim was when I went to the mosque to make my Shahada (profession of faith).
If you truly want to learn the truth of Islam you are obviously capable of learning the same way I did – the internet.
@Epicurus You are correct in saying kuffar is today generally used as an insult toward non-Muslims, and that is how I meant it.
I don’t know your religion, or even if you are an Atheist, but I do know you are not Muslim and so you are not my equal. You are inferior.
I do not believe Prophet Muhammad(PBUH) was a pedophile and so I see no reason to defend his marriage to Ayesha.
That’s the type of false sense of self worth only religion can give you.
lol @ syly. you are everything that is wrong with humanity today. your religion is not one of peace but if hatred and disgust. your prophet only used islam when it suited him and when he wanted to get his way.
Muslims are not superior to anyone in any way…just look at any muslim run country and you will see how pathetic and ****** they all are. cant even produce a functioning society without someone blowing themselves up every other day.
all muslims are dogs. filthy pathetic dogs and havent produced a beneficial product for the human race in over 1000 years.
lol dont worry you may see me as inferior but that is only because you recognize anyone that is not muslim as a threat to your delusion.
the prophet had sex with a child…a little girl. it probably hurt her a lot and probably scarred her for life. of course you dont mind though.
The Quran does condemn those who annoy, mock, malign the prophet and Muslims (33:57-58), and those who oppose Islam (War against God, or sedition) must be executed (5:33, 33:60-62).
(60:4) says followers of Allah will hate the disbelievers forever until they believe in Allah only.
(8:12) “Remember Thy Lord inspired the angels (with the message): “I am with you: give firmness to the believers, I will instill terror into the hearts of the unbelievers, Smite ye above their necks and smite all their finger tips of them.”
(5:33-34) “The only reward of those who make war upon Allah and His messenger and strive after corruption in the land will be that they will be killed or crucified, or have their hands and feet and alternate sides cut off, or will be expelled out of the land. Such will be their degradation in the world, and in the Hereafter theirs will be an awful doom; Save those who repent before ye overpower them. For know that Allah is forgiving, merciful.”
(22:19-22) “These twain (the believers and the disbelievers) are two opponents who contend concerning their Lord. But as for those who disbelieve, garments of fire will be cut out for them, boiling fluid will be poured down their heads. Whereby that which is in their bellies, and their skins too, will be melted; And for them are hooked rods of iron. Whenever, in their anguish, they would go forth from thence they are driven back therein and (it is said unto them): Taste the doom of burning.”
(76:4) “Lo! We have prepared for disbelievers chains, yokes and a blazing fire.”
The above verses clearly state extreme terrorist activities, as they contain nothing but detailed recipes of horrific torture. Cutting off the hands and feet of individuals and then making them walk and jump, pouring boiling waters over their victims, making them drink it, burning them alive, inserting hot iron rods into their bodies, dismemberment and disembowelment, genital mutilation etc. are common Islamic practices.
As Muslims worldwide regard the Quran to be the ultimate holy book, it is followed to the word. Their daily lives are guided specifically by such passages from the Quran.
Moreover, the terrorist, lecherous and criminal activities described in the Koran are considered to be the sacred words of God. Is it any wonder that mindless Muslims all over the world, justify their criminal activities of destruction, loot, torture, rape and murder by pointing to the Quran?
They actually consider their acts to be holy and believe that for committing such holy acts they will go to paradise where they will have plenty of wine, women and young boys for their sexual pleasure.
people of any religion lack the ability to view the world objectively.
@Harry Tritt, I believe Jesus Christ is mentioned in the Qur’an too, but as the first prophet not as the son of God. I would think someone who has “studied all major world religions in college” would be aware of this fact.
@Slyly, your supperiority complex and insults only show you to be of a lesser person. “And in this way Allah does put a seal on every arrogant disdainful heart.” (40.35)
As for the question of pedophillia, I fail to see how Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) was a pedophile. A pedophile is someone who is sexually attracted to young children. I do not see how the “marriage” of someone who is seen in that time to be a “woman” any form of pedophillia.
It always amazes me that followers of two faiths that are so similar routinely fail to follow their own teachings and spit upon each other. We will find out who reaches the doors of Paradise when we die, until then let it be.
@Hugh….he had sex with a child…nuff said. he was attracted to a little girl and had sex with her at the age of 9 years old while he was in his 50′s….man, he is a pedophile.
the fact that he married her just proves his pedophilia is not acute but chronic and he REALLY needed help. the man was a war monger and a pedophile. there is no peace to be had upon him.
@Epicurus – I dont think you should single out all Muslims. But it is strange that “Muslims countries” tend to be very corrupt. Capitalist countries have corruption but no where in the definition of capitalism does it say it wouldn’t be corrupt. So an entire nation based on the teaching of muhammad will fail when a nation based on inherently corrupt capitalism will prosper and actuall support Muslims. I would be interested to see the education level provided by muslims to muslims in muslim nations compared to education provided by capitalists to muslims in capitalists nations.
So I ask… why should I follow the teaching of Muhammad when obviously there are still flaws in the system. And this goes for all religions. When you get the bugs worked out let me know. Until then dont try to sell me a faulty produce.
Reminds me of Microsoft.
@HaTe_MaChInE Sorry for the delay, I went to the store.
Today, the only reason a country be considered Muslim, or Islamic is because the majority population is Muslim.
The corrupt dictators who run these countries do not do so based on the teachings of the Qur’an or the Hadith. They run them on whatever their whim of the day tells them to.
They will one day taste the embers of the Hellfire.
@picurus I thank you for the Qur’anic ayah. You saved me the time of my having to look them up.
(By the way, I accept every word of the Qur’an and Hadith as the True teachings of Allah s.w.t. If the Qur’an or Hadith says it, I believe it, I accept, period.)
Here are some ayah and Hadith concerning Muslims not associating with non’Muslims.
The Qur’an:
Qur’an (5:51) – “O you who believe! do not take the Jews and the Christians for friends; they are friends of each other; and whoever amongst you takes them for a friend, then surely he is one of them; surely Allah does not guide the unjust people.”
Qur’an (5:80) – “You will see many of them befriending those who disbelieve; certainly evil is that which their souls have sent before for them, that Allah became displeased with them and in chastisement shall they abide.”
Qur’an (3:28) – “Let not the believers Take for friends or helpers Unbelievers rather than believers: if any do that, in nothing will there be help from Allah…”
Qur’an (3:118) – “O you who believe! do not take for intimate friends from among others than your own people, they do not fall short of inflicting loss upon you; they love what distresses you; vehement hatred has already appeared from out of their mouths, and what their breasts conceal is greater still; indeed, We have made the communications clear to you, if you will understand.”
Qur’an (9:23) – “O ye who believe! Choose not your fathers nor your brethren for friends if they take pleasure in disbelief rather than faith. Whoso of you taketh them for friends, such are wrong-doers”
(Qur’an (53:29) – “Therefore shun those who turn away from Our Message and desire nothing but the life of this world.”
Qur’an (3:85) – “And whoever desires a religion other than Islam, it shall not be accepted from him, and in the hereafter he shall be one of the losers.”
Qur’an (3:10) – “(As for) those who disbelieve, surely neither their wealth nor their children shall avail them in the least against Allah, and these it is who are the fuel of the fire.”
Qur’an (7:44) – “The Companions of the Garden will call out to the Companions of the Fire: “We have indeed found the promises of our Lord to us true: Have you also found Your Lord’s promises true?” They shall say, “Yes”; but a crier shall proclaim between them: “The curse of Allah is on the wrong-doers”
Qur’an (1:5-7) – “Show us the straight path, The path of those whom Thou hast favoured; Not the (path) of those who earn Thine anger nor of those who go astray”
From the Hadith:
Muslim (1:417) – Taken to mean that one’s own relatives should not be taken as friends if they are not Muslim.
Abu Dawud (41:4815) – “The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: A man follows the religion of his friend; so each one should consider whom he makes his friend.”
Abu Dawud (41:4832) – The Messenger of Allah [said] “Do not keep company with anyone but a believer and do not let anyone eat your food but one who is pious.”
Bukhari (59:572) – “O you who believe! Take not my enemies And your enemies as friends offering them (Your) love even though they have disbelieved in that Truth (i.e. Allah, Prophet Muhammad and this Quran) which has come to you.”
Ishaq 262 – “Some Muslims remained friends with the Jews, so Allah sent down a Qur’an forbidding them to take Jews as friends. From their mouths hatred has already shown itself and what they conceal is worse”
Ishaq 252 – The story of a young man who converts to Islam after hearing Muhammad. He then tells his own father that he can no longer have anything to do with him because, “I have become a Muslim and follow the religion of Muhammad.” (To maintain a relationship with his son, the father “converts” as well). This is an important passage because it establishes that the principle of shunning is based merely on the status of non-Muslims as unbelievers, not on their relations toward Muslims. In this case, the father desperately loved his son and meant him no harm.
And now here is a verse from the Bible in which God tells people what they should do to their family if they change religion.
Deuteronomy
13:6 If thy brother, the son of thy mother, or thy son, or thy daughter, or the wife of thy bosom, or thy friend, which is as thine own soul, entice thee secretly, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which thou hast not known, thou, nor thy fathers; 13:7 Namely, of the gods of the people which are round about you, nigh unto thee, or far off from thee, from the one end of the earth even unto the other end of the earth; 13:8 Thou shalt not consent unto him, nor hearken unto him; neither shall thine eye pity him, neither shalt thou spare, neither shalt thou conceal him: 13:9 But thou shalt surely kill him; thine hand shall be first upon him to put him to death, and afterwards the hand of all the people.
WOWIE! If you want to really read some stuff that’ll give you the shivers try a chapter or two of Leviticus! Talk about blood, gore, God sanctioned mass killing and child rape! Whoee!
@syly
Why is it that Muslims believe in that stuff than cry out DISCRIMINATION when they get checked more at the airport?
@syly, Thank you, you have demonstrated to anyone who will take the time to read your posts that you are an insane human being that ought to be locked away from the rest of functioning society.
and how come muslims always try to turn the table and say “well christians believe this!” thats great christians are retards also whats your point? the fallacy of tu quoque.
@Epicurus, the exact age is in speculation; they range from 5-10 when the marriage was proposed (by the father i believe) until ~5 years later when the marriage was consumated. Therefore, it’s entirely plausible that she was 15 or older before she even married. Most nations of any antiquity had such practices, the age of puberty was the sign of adulthood. It wasn’t all that long ago that the US didn’t even have a law prohibiting marriage at a young age and only recently enough upped that to 14-16 depending on the state. I was just living in a province where the age was 14.
You may not agree with it (as I do not either) but it is not right to chastise one person for doing so in a time and place when this was not only socially acceptable but “normal”. If he treated her well and with respect then I would say she faired out a lot better than many others of that time did.
@Slyly, with all your posts there not once did I see a quote saying to belittle and degrade others and treat them as though they were inferior. Rather, to shun them which means pay them no attention.
Both followers of the Qur’an and of the Bible take the teachings far too litteral and to heart. The teachings of both books mean nothing unless you understand the historical context from which they came. To follow one without the other is a moral and intillectual failure.
Keep fighting the good fight Hugh!
@Hugh, the exact age is only in speculation by those that do not take the Quran literal.
Tabari VII:7 “The Prophet married Aisha in Mecca three years before the Hijrah, after the death of Khadija. At the time she was six.” Ishaq:281 “When the Apostle came to Medina he was fifty-three.” Tabari VII:6 “In May, 623 A.D./A.H. 1, Allah’s Messenger consummated his marriage to Aisha.” He would be dead in ten years; she hadn’t lived that long
Tabari IX:128 “When the Prophet married Aisha, she was very young and not yet ready for consummation.” This is how it happened: Tabari IX:131 “My mother came to me while I was being swung on a swing between two branches and got me down. My nurse took over and wiped my face with some water and started leading me. When I was at the door she stopped so I could catch my breath. I was brought in while Muhammad was sitting on a bed in our house. My mother made me sit on his lap. The other men and women got up and left. The Prophet consummated his marriage with me in my house when I was nine years old.” Given a choice, I believe most people would prefer to get their spiritual inspiration from someone who wasn’t a sexual predator.
you can cry that everyone else was doing it also, but if you claim Mohammad was perfect and a messenger of god then he should have known better.
@Epicurus, yes that is quoted however as I said, there has been debate about whether this part was factual/accurate. Most take this as factual because they read every word in it’s literal sense however there is controversy over the dates and times mentioned throughout that conflict with the age presented. Regardless, we’re still looking at someone who married under the age of 20.
As for crying about it, I don’t see anyone crying about it but you. I have only pointed out something you have mentioned several times. If you read my posts, I agreed that I don’t believe in such marriages. I have also never said Muhammad was perfect, please don’t put words in my mouth; that is an opinion privy to Muslims. To say that a messenger of God (assuming that He was) should have lived up to your standards is a lofty position to hold however. It has also been said that the virgin Mary was 11-15 when conceived with Christ, so I guess that makes God a pedophile too. Or at the very least, Joseph for having married her.
As I have said before, and will leave it at this, the books must be kept in the context of their history. Many teachings in both simply do not apply to today, but knowing the history as to why they are in the book ensures one doesn’t take every word literally.
@Hugh, the person who muslims claim is perfect ought to be…well perfect. when he does things that are wrong (psychologically and physically damaging a child or even taking advantage of his position of superiority over a child) then he is not perfect. in no way should someones pedophilia be brushed under the rug and ignored. instead it should be highlighted.
god making mary pregnant didnt actually contain sex, however it is still rape i would say. and at least the muslims didnt use magic sperm and magic conceptions. the christians are just as insane.
the books should be taken as myth and nothing more. they are a stain on our history.
Jazakallah Khair:
Marriage is what you define it as. In Islam, it’s pretty much ownership and tends to be based on whatever the man feels like doing, so correct me if I’m wrong but pretty much every muslim-centered country I can think of condones marital abuse (only if it’s the man abusing the woman, ofcourse) and polygamy(men only ofcourse, woman have to shut up and accept it) quote any so-called scriptures you want about loving your wife, again, it’s just on paper, and in fact there are lots of verses that make women men’s property in the Koran. It’s a bunch of BS.
Religion, scripture, and god as a whole make me sick.
god isn’t perfect in any religion; he’s usually a sexist, rascist pedophile who once in a while demands or atleast accepts genocide (“kill all infidels….”)
One think I can say, however, that the Islamic religion is by far the scariest of them all because it tends to put people in very violent and aggressive moods. **shiver** I don’t see Jews blowing themselves up, sorry guys.
I am absolutely disgusted you all have the gaul to have a religious debate over a video like this. This was never about dissing each other’s religions – it was about the pain these women went through because of the acts of other HUMANS.
You should really be ashamed of yourselves.
Overthrow this corrupt Indian “democracy.” How the hell can this be the biggest democracy in the world when 95% of the people live in total slavery to the system. This documentary exposes only part of India’s economic turmoil that these people suffer in response to the freedom of the market. I saw it’s time for these workers to rise up against the Indian capitalists and establish a system where a woman isn’t forced to sell her body so some pimp can simply live another day.
It is a slow genocide done by their own system. A poison that will keep killing if something is not done. These women have lost the chance to lead their lives in the ways they ”want”. It is at the end a problem of us – humans. Things should be changed, even in India, in the poorest countires. However, it is difficult to change the humans if there are thousents dying from hunger…
Wow all this theology defense and attacks…has what to do with child sex slave trade in India?
Talk about tunnel vision agenda. I wonder if The Lion King or Dumb and Dumber was posted on this site, how many comments into the forum would it spin off into theology and name calling.
The people committed to rescuing children in India are examples of true champions of justice. They do this in a time where humanity is supposed to be more enlightened and civil. It was another painful document to watch; even moreso because it was about people preying upon their ownfor profit.
@Steph.
It is dangerous to take religion too seriously. Its as up for debate at any time, as anything else in this world, because like it or not, its man made as your wrist watch, and the “time” it keeps track of. Theres no numbers in the sky…believe me…The late great George Carlin checked! So continue to be appalled, thats your right, but dont think you have the right to control what people say, and where they say it!
religion has everything to do with women being treated as second class human beings. Religion is a place when women are men’s footstool.
My friends, the truth is, every human being consider him/her-self as god and will do whatever he/she wants. Some used religions to back up what he/she already decided to do in his/her heart. Some, like the atheist use reason and logic to back up what he/she already decided to do in his/her heart. Some, who are stronger militarily use strength and weapon to backup what he/she has decided in their heart.
That’s why there will never be any peace in this world, ever. There will always be disagreement, man will make up excuses to divide themselves and fight each other, that’s why even people from the same country, same religion, same etnic group can fight each other just because of a simplest differences such as they like different football club for example.
The peace as we know it in the west is a compromise and fragile, it only need one event to unravel the peace (old example is WW1, WW2, current example: if there is an oil/food/water shortage). Currently, we have peace in the west at a cost of other regions in the world, we take their resources, oil, food and bring them to the west, if the supply stop, you will see blood.
The world as a whole will only have peace if there is only one leader leading the whole world. Trouble is, everyone think he/she is god and therefore if what they want is not the same as what the leader want, they do not want to follow or submit to leader. The only way for mankind to achieve peace by having one leadership for the whole world is therefore through violence and strength and weapons which is ironic. We want peace but to get our peace we need violence to get rid of people who oppose us, that’s the truth of human kind. That is where our world is coming to and the reason why we as human-kind need external help.
That’s why I believe our only hope to have peace is for our creator, God to rule the world. God promise to rule the world through Jesus when He comes back again. Until then, I hope we can keep compromising and tolerating each other. I know some of you might not be happy that i’m promoting a religion, but i don’t think believing in God and Jesus is a religion, I don’t believe in the leadership of churches, pope or other so called “religious people”, but I do believe the promises in the Bible because they have come true, there are still promises that haven’t been fulfilled such as Jesus coming back, which is why I’m waiting eagerly.
I know some of you must be itching now to ridicule this comment. It’s easy to ridicule but please think about it, we as human kind can’t help ourselves but to hurt and kill each other. Open your eyes and think logically, you will see that without God, we are doomed to hurt and kill each other for supremacy. If you’re going to say what about evolution and the Bible? I don’t see any conflict, the Bible never said anything about evolution or how old is the world, so it might be the way God created us, evolution doesn’t answer the question who started the big bang, which scientists always shy to answer, God. What the Bible did say is that God created the world, we human messed it up, and God will fix the world when Jesus comes back. Look at the world, yes it’s mess, it’s been a mess since the beginning of our written history many many thousand years ago, and will be a mess until Lord Jesus comes back.
If you’re going to ask why would God wait so long and not care about the mess and violence and war and oppressions going on right now such as the one done to the women in india? Well, if God is going to fix the mess, He will need to get rid the source of the mess, which is human being, which is you. If you’re smart you will be able to work out that if God does come to sort out the mess which is mankind, that will be the extinction of mankind. To be fair, He is giving mankind time to repent, He has sent His Son Jesus to the world and warned mankind about this 2000 years ago. Jesus died for mankind’s sins so that whoever believe in Jesus will not suffer when God does come and fix the problem, once and for all. God has done His part, now the ball is on mankind’s court, what will man do? accept Jesus or reject Jesus?
And not only man, but a certain type of man. Dont forget that men are discriminated against by religion, also.We have equal dangers to worry about, skin colour, geography, all being just as random as being born a girl. To say that religion TARGETS women mainly, would be wrong…religion targets anything that is “different”
But you definitely are not wrong. Religion portrays women as a mere tool/vessel for man to be born, and little more. I cant believe something so inaccurate an untruthful, can be the cause of so much hate and evil in this world, that people will just follow into it blindly on faith.
Dude , I couldn’t even watch the whole thing. This happens way to often. Then I read some of these comments. Are some of you actually serious?
@syly and everyother pedofile sympathiser
I dont see how you can use anything to try and jutify the taking of innocence from a kid ! I suppose if a 45 year old man had sex with your 12 year old daughter , you would just quote your 2000 year old books of BS and be ok with it, huh? Well where I come from that is considered the lowest of lows and is looked apon with extreme digust. People kill others for such things. Let the punishment fit the crime .Dont make it easy on the one who commit such deeds . How would you like it if someone were to take you and force you to let another person sodomize you however and with whatever they wanted to? Id bet you would feel just as bad as these girls do, or would you? People who do this are a plague to humanity and deserve no mercy or rights. They should all be exspelled from existence .
Even from muslim eyes , to marry and have sex w/ a kid should seem immoral and perverse . What is wrong with you people.Belief in a god is retarde but belrf that there is justification for having sex with a kid is not only insane but morally disgusting and should be punished.
I have a 16 yr old daughter , and if anyone even looked at her in that way or even entertained the thought , I would be in prison the rest of my life.
What madness you people speak.
@Steph;
If you read the posts, the religious debate came about from posts of religious bigotry. There should be no tolerance for such bigotry so there is no better time to discuss its source.
@eireannach666;
I haven’t seen any comments condoning/sympathizing pedophilia, maybe you can point out the post/s that are?! I know that I have said you can’t blame any one individual for something that was the norm at some point in time. Since this is a recurring theme in many countries’ histories it seems hypocritical to judge another countries past when it’s highly likely your own country has done the same and possibly even your own ancestors. It is a history lesson; nothing more, nothing less. Just because it happened at some other point in time does not mean you have to agree with it, nor does the world have to practice it. Society made that choice at that time.
While I agree with your feelings regarding a father and daughter, it doesn’t apply to what was said. The father was the one promoting the marriage, not the other way around; therefore, this is entirely different.
@ EVA
Religion has nothing to do with this film. Period. Nowhere is any mainstream text of any theology does it say you can enslave children to profit off of them by using them as sex slaves ( notice i said mainstream….cults created by madmen dont count).
If someone happens to find a scripture that condones that, they are grossly misinterpreting a detail that conflicts with the message behind the whole book for their agenda ( just like they do for genocides and wars)
You say the condemnation of women is blamed on religion (but so is war, racism, etc etc)….. really? Pretty sure the majority of Chinese are atheists (~90%)and women there arent exactly treated as equals.
I know what you are trying to get at….that it starts off by women being treated as inferior and it sets the precedence to treat them eventually as sex slaves.I am sorry but blaming religion for such a travesty is misguided. The reality is that people are evil despite scriptures, propaganda, laws, cultures, etc etc. …Which proves my point further…..no way a child sex slave runner thinks what hes doing is ok, no way that guy goes to religious service and thinks “My business is not evil, its cool with people since I am providing a service for a needy market”.
I will go a step further and say that condemnation of women ( and war and the other evils of the world) are at the root of human nature, and that innate evil seeks validation and rationalization from an external sources. After all, serial killers really believe they are doing the world a favor. The condemnation of women is also seen as doing women and men a favor. I obviously dont agree with that, but that’s the mindset of a twisted person believing they are righteous in the face of religion and societal laws ( they believe their actions are above all that).
oliarguello:
I completely agree with you. The problem with religion is that it takes human nature and makes it uncontestable and holy because it turns into the word of god. Religion is only men dictating by pretending to be the mouthpiece of some sort of unquestionable deity. In every religion but especially in Islam.
eareeanach666:
“I have a 16 yr old daughter , and if anyone even looked at her in that way or even entertained the thought , I would be in prison the rest of my life.
What madness you people speak.”
the above quote is exactly what is wrong with the Islam culture and religion. Anytime someone does something you don’t like KILL THEM, KILL THEM ALL. Kill them because they looked at your daughter wrong, kill them because they fight against Islam, kill them because they slept with someone, the answer in Islam is always murder. Kill the infidel, destroy the opposer. That is what is so scary. How many 16-year olds get murdered by their own FATHERS because they slept with someone? Even here, in the West where life is 10 times more peaceful than in Islamic countries?
The Quran condemns those who annoy, mock, malign the prophet and Muslims (33:57-58), and those who oppose Islam (War against God, or sedition) must be executed (5:33, 33:60-62).
So what, the answer now is to kill me? Destroy me? Execute me? Because first off I am a woman who dares speak to a man, who has been given more than to woman, so I should shut up and obey, and secondly I as an infidel and inferior and am putting the truth about Islam out there. I should be beheaded, right? According to your sacred scripture.
Or maybe the following scripture will apply, since I am a woman:
(K.)”4:34 Men are the protectors and maintainers of women, because God has given the one more than the other, and because they support them from their means. Therefore the righteous women are devoutly obedient, and guard in (the husband… See More’s) absence what God would have them guard. As to those women on whose part ye fear disloyalty and ill-conduct, admonish them, refuse to share their beds, and beat them; but if they return to obedience, seek not against them Means: For God is Most High, great.”
Now, this could be taken by some men to mean that you should beat your wives lightly, but others might take it to mean beat them harshly. For example, what if a woman disobeys her husband? Do you have to obey this scripture in order? Admonish and THEN beat? Or if the dissobediance was a great dissobediance, do you skip the admonishing and refusing sex and go straight to beating?
It’s all up to interpretation, and that is the problem with scripture.
I think the only way that the world will ever find peace is for God to die.
And for those who are wondering what god has to do with this discussion, “THE DAY MY GOD DIED” is the name of this documentary. And so SHOULD he die. Only the dead can’t do anything for anyone, and apparently only a few people seem to realize this, unfortunately, many only know this truth when they’ve been treated like animals like these girls.
And to the Muslims on here, isn’t it law that a woman can’t claim to be raped, under muslim law, unless she has 4 witnesses? Male witnesses? Allah is dead to his women apparently, but I’m sure you’re all thinking “women are such troublemakers, that’s why that law is in place, so they can’t go around lying like always and making trouble for men.” The best day for world will be the day that Islam, the embarrassment of humanity, dies along with it’s god.
Well since the flow of conversation of this film has gone towards religion , I will concede and join.
@ EVA
I dont think GOD should “die” because the evil of men will continue with or without religion, and there are some benefits to religion for the enlightened. Although I do agree totally with you that religion is just used by the majority of men of influence “as a mouthpiece for an unquestionable deity”.
Religion has some wisdom in it but its full of propaganda and hypocrisy. I mean the audacity of someone to say a book written by a man is infallible, can never be questioned or changed otherwise you go to hell or must be killed, simply because they say it’s the word of GOD, is the definition of propaganda! And its hypocritical because how many sects split off from a church, and they call each other heretics, except their own church is the one true church. Christianity teaches not to worship idols yet you see statues, crosses, paintings with little benches in front of them for you to kneel and pray to. Islam takes the idea WAY too far and the simple depiction of Muhammad is cause for death! Its like a catch 22 with men corrupting ideas at any level possible just to create opportunities to chastise each other.
In Christianity, Jesus pretty much changed the idea of religion and they called him a demon and a blasphemer. People are guilty of the exact same thing now…anyone who questions theology or tries to reconcile their belief with modern times are called blasphemers. They take the letter of the law versus the spirit of it. Jesus taught love, tolerance, forgiveness, and spirituality to be developed from within. He even said its better for people to pray alone in a closet than to make a big show of their spirituality. His point being that your spirituality is to be worked on and perfected by self improvement, not externally by the validation of others approval.
And its ridiculous that people, in the face of empirical evidence refute said evidence because of unshakeable brainwashing. I think Kant said it best with this quote
“Enlightenment is man’s release from his self-incurred
tutelage. Tutelage is man’s inability to make use of his
understanding without direction from another. Self-incurred
is this tutelage when its cause lies not in lack of reason
but in lack of resolution and courage to use it without
direction from another.”
Believers and nonbelievers alike are firmly persuaded that they know and understand their beliefs with such conviction that nothing can change their minds, especially since they can find an external validation by a group to re-enforce their stubborn ideology. “Even the strongest current of water can not add a drop of water to a cup that is already full”-Tolstoy. Anyone who is educated in their field of expertise knows how little they know, how many mysteries and questions remain.
Instead of GOD “dying” I believe the idea of what/who GOD is needs to be updated. We understand how our world works better than ever before with all our scientific data, and this data does not dismiss GOD but gives us a better understanding of who/what he is. The Bible is a collection of books consolidated by the council of Nicea based on a list of what different people were reading in churches ( some read A,B,C…some read B,C,G, some read A,H,J, etc and the bible was created on the texts that were the most popular)…how is that not man made? People will say it was the holy spirit guiding things…well what about modern day books isn’t the holy spirit having a hand in these books? If not…shouldn’t Christian book stores be closed down? Of course not. I will give them the notion that the holy spirit influences people, in which case shouldn’t the bible, or any ancient theological text, be updated?
You know whats also really terrible about these child sex salve brothels?
The law enforcement knows about these places and let them continue. I mean if random people from other countries know about these places to try rescue these girls, or a documentary crew can identify these places, you don’t think the law enforcement knows about these places? Its disgusting what people will do for a few dollars.
Its like the US governement. They are protecting the poppy fields in Afghanistan using a lame guise of they are protecting and helping the farmers, otherwise they will turn against the soldiers and Al Qaeda will get the money. WOW! So now the US admits they grow poppy fields and export it for the money. Yet they will arrests you and destroy your life if you buy any drugs that they themselves grew and manufactured.
If these acts of corruption are not demonic, I dont know what is.
@Eva
Im no muslim.
Im an atheist.
Also , might I add that you should slow down and maybe re-read my posts, You might find that we agree for the most part. And yes, if someone touched my daughter in that manner … well. Like I said before.
oliarguello:
“Believers and nonbelievers alike are firmly persuaded that they know and understand their beliefs with such conviction that nothing can change their minds, especially since they can find an external validation by a group to re-enforce their stubborn ideology”
I don’t claim to know anything in an absolutely certain way. If someone can give me one single scrap of evidence that there is a god I will listen. I am fine with being proven wrong in my assumption that there isn’t.
The only problem is, considering what I know about religion and the different brands of god that different groups of people worship in their own way, I don’t like him. I think very poorly of him and want nothing to do with him.
“I will give them the notion that the holy spirit influences people, in which case shouldn’t the bible, or any ancient theological text, be updated?”
Updating the bible is the same thing as jabbing god in the stomache and making him bleed. If god really is god, shouldn’t his commandments stand the test of pressumably inferior changing human thought?
And sorry about any strange accusations I might have made about you.
“If these acts of corruption are not demonic, I dont know what is.”
That’s assuming demons exist. I don’t think they do, personally. What I do believe exists, are fanatical American christians who 9 years ago put a fanatical christain man (or at least one who played the part) into office. This fanatical christian man (FCM) then went up against a fanatical muslim nation (FMN) and decided to use his fanatical christianity as a guise for taking over the FMN because according to the FCM the FMN was the demon, since the FCM believed in demons and so did his minions (lol) across the blessed USA.
Even still, you have to admit, what the FCM and his minions are doing over in the East where they have no business being will never be as bad as what FMN are doing all the time. Sure the brothels are legal over in the East, but they used to also be illegal over in the west, up until the 1800s or early 1900s when finally children stopped being personal property at best.
So, I don’t know, it’s just personal opinion, but I think the east could stand a little influence from the west.
And regarding farmers turning into soldiers for AlQuaeda, I don’t do drugs because I believe in the law but I personally would rather suport the poppy fields in Afghanistan than the AlQueada.
Poppy fields don’t arrest women and cut their fingernails off because there is nail polish on them.
Poppy fields don’t beat women because they showed their wrists.
Poppy fields don’t demand that women stop going to school and obsess over their libidinal economies instead. We are more than wombs, and most gods will disagree, especially the muslim god.
Drugs aren’t as bad as FMN and their strange religious offshoots.
and you know what’s really really hilarious oliarguello?
people come to the west fleeing from the broken east and think they come here to fix something.
eireannach666
“People who do this are a plague to humanity and deserve no mercy or rights. They should all be exspelled from existence.”
I agree completely.
“Even from muslim eyes , to marry and have sex w/ a kid should seem immoral and perverse.”
Well, not really. After military conquests, Muhammad would dispense captured women as war prizes to his men. In at least one case, he advocated that they be raped in front of their husbands. Captured women were made into sex slaves by the very men who killed their husbands and brothers. There are four Qur’anic verses in which “Allah” makes clear that a Muslim master has full sexual access to his female slaves, but there isn’t a single verse that prohibits rape.
Also, mohammed married a girl that was, well, a GIRL. Not a woman.
I think she was 12 if memory serves me right.
@ EVA

I agree with you. I was an atheist for a while (but raised Catholic) especially when I was in college pursing my scientific degree, since GOD didnt make any sense scientifically nor was his description making any sense psychologically. But I read about other religions with a open mind but remaining grounded by a skeptical point of view, all in sake of seeking truth. I have personally have come to witness miracles and modern prophecies (uttered today) come true, while this is not necessarily proof of GOD, it has lead me down a path that there are certain truths. And when two things are true, they can not contradict each other instead there is a mechanism of harmony between the two somewhere. This statement, I know, wont convince you of anything, all I am saying is keep an open mind without bias and seek the truth in all things, and just because there may be some chink in the armor of a hypothesis, that does not mean all ideas in a hypothesis can be dismissed, instead the hypothesis must be refined.
“Updating the bible is the same thing as jabbing god in the stomache and making him bleed. If god really is god, shouldn’t his commandments stand the test of pressumably inferior changing human thought?”
That would only be true if the Bible was infallible because its the direct word of GOD. Which it is not. If you were to look at the history of the Bible you would see many things to deem it flawed.
1) The current Bible is not the complete cannon of early Christian books.
2) The Bible is a collection of books that is a consolidation of the different “churches” of Christianity at the time ( I.e church 1 read A,B,C…church 2 read A,B,G,L,K.P, .. church 3 read B,G,H,L,X..ETC)so the council of Nicaea wanted to unite the people and dismiss what they thought was irrelevant….voila you get the Bible of books A, B, G, L.
3) His commandments do stand the test of time. But its people who misinterpret or create Dogma that muddy it all up. Such as there is the commandment thou shalt not kill…..it doesnt say thou shalt not kill unless you put a cross on your weapon…then there are dogmatic scriptures that some overzelous preacher states nonsense like ” Stone your brethren to death that believes but then turns his back and no longer believes or begins to worship the moon , stars, etc” kinda misses the message of the commandment there doesnt it?
4) Then there is the Quran. I am not yet a master at the Quran text, but from what I read the majority of the violent decrees come from Muhammad’s Hadith ( personal wise writtings) that were written AFTER his peaceful evangelism wasnt gaining too much traction.
So updating theology isnt stabbing GOD in the stomach. In fact isnt that what Moses, Jesus and Muhammad did?
“That’s assuming demons exist. I don’t think they do, personally. What I do believe exists, are fanatical American christians who 9 years ago…..”
Oh i should have chosen my words more carefully. I dont think “demons” exist in the sense of a monster running around on earth wreaking havoc. What I mean was more akin to what you are saying. That there are men who are influenced by their own ego which lets in evil thoughts allwoing evil deeds, in the guise of righteousness ( just like what serial killers do).
“Even still, you have to admit, what the FCM and his minions are doing over in the East where they have no business being will never be as bad as what FMN are doing all the time. Sure the brothels are legal over in the East, but they used to also be illegal over in the west, up until the 1800s or early 1900s when finally children stopped being personal property at best.”
Completely agree. Especially since the FCM is just over there in the guise of “liberation, establishing democracy, civil liberties..etc” when in fact they are just over there for control, exploitation, and to make money.
so you’re muslim right?
Did you not read anything that I said about the Koran’s treatment of women?
“when two things are true, they can not contradict each other”
You either haven’t read the koran and don’t realize how much violence is advocated by the muslim god or you know and agree with the teachings in it about murdering others who oppose islam and women being inferior.
Do you believe in human rights? If so, you can’t possibly be muslim.
THEREFORE… if you are muslim you advocate murder and the mistreatment of women.
So I have no respect for you.
“So updating theology isnt stabbing GOD in the stomach. In fact isnt that what Moses, Jesus and Muhammad did?”
That’s just it, God died long ago, but really he never really existed.
Sigh!! To all the religious people on this board, give it a break. Allah nor Jesus are real characters, they are fictional, they are about as real as Harry Potter or Spiderman. The bible and quran were essentially segmented comic books–for entertainment purposes during that period of time–and obviously creativity was limited to levitation, walking on water, and malnutrition. We now have more creative minds writing comics, hence, the lasers, impenetrable epidermis etc etc.
In any event, why can’t we all just be objective and not involve religion in our discussion of these tragic events. The exception being, blaming religion for creating cultural divisions and perpetuating unprovoked violence (violation of woman’s rights when it applies to Islam, and of course molestation of little children for Christianity).
To the intellects above who suggest hopeful wishing, and want to rely on fictional beings such as Allah, Mohamed, Jesus, Zeus, or Superman…you deluded people can continue self indulging yourselves in your ignorant bliss since your only contribution to assistance would be magic or prayers, so keep it up and continue hoping for nothing to happen.
For the rest, make sure your voices are heard, and that this discussion and issue like many others are approached without any mystical or religious intervention.
It is so hard to fathom the horror that these women have lived. This doc was obviously much needed. I’m so glad to know that at least some of them make it out.
To use religion to distract from the topic at hand shows a very narrow attention span and an egocentric viewpoint. Your God, if you believe in one, does not need you to justify him/her/it. A relgious doc would be a great place to argue about who has the best God that Man could make.
After you folks get tired of rubbing your dicks together, I hope you’ll reflect on the poor women/children/families depicted in this vid. Physically, emotionally, spitually scarred. Some, handed a death sentence. Simply for being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Can you imagine having your dignity-future-life sold for two dollars a piece? Very sad situation…. Heartbreaking, actually. This is quite humbling. I am so fortunate
Thanks for posting this doc. In case I missed it, was there any mention of a way to help these people? I didn’t see it.
@EVA
I am not Muslim (I am actually closer to the Christian religion , thats why i know so much about it). I even mentioned how I not a master of the Quran ( i.e. havent read it in any great depth) and that it was initially a peaceful writing, then the violent writings came from Muhammad when he realized his peaceful preaching wasnt getting many followers.. therefore he resorted to violent preaching because that worked for him. I even specifically mentioned the Quran is not the word of GOD ( neither is the bible or any other text).
As for quoting me about “when two things are true, they can not contradict each other”, you completely took that out of context. That was clearly a referent to saying GOD does exist ( which I mentioned in an earlier post as why that is) and science is true, therefore those two truths dont contradict each other but compliment each other.I really have no clue where you got the idea i was advocating a Islam in that quote.
@Jacob
You clearly dont know what you are talking about. Jesus did exist as a person and there is a mountain of evidence for that ( not only in the bible but in the Quran, Roman government records, Greek records, ancient Jewish essays, ancient Greek essays., and some Indian texts). You may argue his status as a deity, but to claim he never existed is nonsense.
You may choose to be blissfully ignorant yourself, but you clearly have not even attempted to truthfully investigate the divine world. Which is fine, but do not speak of things you clearly know very very little about.
Religion goes far beyond the “mystical praying” which you seem to use as a crutch for your arguement, if you actually looked at Jesus teachings it states how to live a new type of existence, to love each other and strive for perfection.
And By the way. I made the same initial comment that religion really had no place in this documentary. But thats just how the flow of this forum has gone. You are welcome to make an independent comment about the film to stir up conversation, rather than simply attempting to reinforce your atheist views by bashing religion with superfluous nonsense (superman?…c’mon…so much for your “intelligence”).
I will follow my own advice and comment of ronanthem’s comment so hopefully we can go back to the issue at hand in this doc
@ronanthem
You know most of these docs stimulate my mind. This is one of the very few that actually pained me through my emotions.
It would be bad enough if a grown adult was put through this torturous life, but imagine an innocent child going through this. I cant even imagine when I was a child, busy playing with my toys, to go through this kind of ordeal and to this magnitude.
I mentioned in an earlier post that if a foreign documentary crew knows about, and can find these places, then clearly the local police authority knows about these places and are being payed off to look the other way.
All the people involved in perpetuating this practice are truly monsters worse than any Hollywood writer can come up with, simply because most fictional monsters are mindless beings serving some urge. These real life monsters are conscientious men of a degreee of intelligence serving an urge they CAN control but choose not to at the expense/sacrifice of an innocent child.
@ EVA
“THEREFORE… if you are muslim you advocate murder and the mistreatment of women.”
We definitely agree on that, What I meant by ““Even from muslim eyes , to marry and have sex w/ a kid should seem immoral and perverse.” is more of an emphasis on the word “should” but “should seem” and how they are can be two different thing. It is a shame indeed , to think like that in the 21st century, Which is why I say what a disease religion is. Nothing but an ancient parasite feeding on world society.
@eireannach666
Actually any man made group that has any success attracts certain men/women to exploit it, no matter the initial intentions.
Even the US started off as a system to benefit each citizen and now the political leaders creatively circumvent its own laws to exploit its citizens. Christianity started as a way of life to love your fellow man..now it advocates more sin and hate than anything else. Capitalism started off as a way for a man to make his own success…now its monopolized in a way where men can destroy their competition including the little man that sweats, bleeds, and sacrifices for his money. Even law enforcement placed laws in effect to initially protect citizens…now laws are used to exploit citizens to get money out of them, keep the jails full and circulating, and take away freedoms. The common trend here is that the leaders of all these groups have defiled the idealism of the organization/group they are leading.
All these man made systems have become “parasites feeding off the world society”. The problem does not stem from idealism, its stems from greedy power-lust men exploiting those ideals for their own benefit, no matter the sacrifice.
So religion really has nothing to do with the evils of men. The evils of men continue with or without religion. Afterall we have laws and lawmakers… even those lawmakers (Congressmen, Senators, mayors, cops, judges) break laws.
And as evident by this documentary, evil knows no bounds when when corruption flourishes, and corruption is an innate characteristic that can onlly be ultimately checked by one’s own ethics.
Religion had its very noble purpose in its time, but people didn’t let it evolve. Jesus Christ is said to have said: “When you finally come before me I shall not recognise you, even though you will have acted and spoken in my name.” Bet the guy knew people would just use the system :p
Excellent quote K.T.
Thats exactly why I think religion needs to be updated/evolve. Just like any hypothesis/theory.
People in the theological world call me a heretic blasphemer for saying this, and my scientific colleagues call me irrational for finding mechanisms/harmony of science to explain theological ideas. Pretty sure Jesus did the same thing and was called those things as well. Guess I really am following in his footsteps ( but no way i can fast for 40 days LOL).
Jesus taught to grow your spirituality inwards and not to follow the letter of the law ( he said rituals are pointless especially if you do them blindly). He said its better to pray in a closet by yourself than to make a huge show for external validation from others….not necessarily to be humble, although that helps, but so that you dont loose your connection of your spirituality to objects.
your magical thinking ways make me sick. yuck.
Adios terrorist!! ~~
@Eva
Good girl.
LOL@ magical ways of thinking. I dont believe in magic, hence why i see science explaining theology and why some ideas need to be revamped.
And what exactly makes you sick? The word spirituality? replace it with “self improvement” and voila hat should make you less nauseous.
And terrorist? LOL. wtf? where did that come from?
i couldn`t imagine how this girl were sold
i cried by watchin… this video sooooo sad…
Give over with the thological discussions. It’s an incrediably sad documentary about the horrid world we live in and don’t even care about because it’s not on our doorsteps. You lot are on here going off on Islam and Hinduism without bearing in mind that human trafficking exists in every part of the world, regardless of religion. It happens in India, Africa, America, Britain. It’s a people problem, not a religion problem. Get over it and just show a bit of sympathy with these girls.
Religion has no role to play here ,its just dirty human lust..every man born on this planet yearns to have the best sex with the most beautiful women but unfortunately when reality strikes that he will never come close to his fantasy…his lust and greed overtakes common sense and ends up killing a small girl’s future…as long as there is demand there will be supply…life is a big zero …you never know where you started and will never know where the END is.
Vikram,
i am sorry to sound like a cynic but you are absolutely right! It’s human nature, it’s animal nature, hec – its nature! Men want something that’s new and innocent and attractive. They love the chase and when a young pretty thing is poor, weak or vulnerable then it is easy – wherever that is in the world at that time. I was almost abducted into the child sex slave trade when i was thirteen on a holiday in lombok – i only got away but a few seconds before the men chased after me. I often feel guilty that i got away and so many others didn’t or couldn’t. Life and sex are very very very strange things indeed – what people really want… wow! its boggling at times!
Katim,
I am happy that you escaped from a hell like scenario….but other people want to run but their feet wont run for them…you know its because of HUNGER ,a hungry stomach refuses moral, religious and ethical values and sets its own agenda to fill itself and in most of the populated countries you find many people commit horrific crimes for a square meal…I dont know whether we eat to live or we live to eat….
Frankly, I’m absolutely disgusted that religion is being discussed on this comment board given the magnitude of the information presented in this film. I mean really.
Please someone, help me understand how debating the differences between Islam & Hinduism will help these girls and those all around the world escape the literal h*ll they are forced into? The differences & commonalities are little relevant, in my opinion, when 2,500 women are trafficked daily world wide; when 90 new cases of HIV are reported in Bombay alone(with emphasis on reported) and at least 80% of girls are HIV+ just within this district; and you all have the nerve to discuss religion and whether Muhammad was a pedophile or not. Can’t we all just get over ourselves?
My God, I’m thoroughly disgusted….
It was stated fairly early on that human trafficking exists in just about every country in the world… Including the (apparently) most civilized western powerhouses – America and the UK! This is not a religious debate or even about pedophilia – It is a film about the stripping of basic freedom for our fellow humans.
If this documentary was filmed in America there would potentially be a riot (I say potentially because I recently saw the film ‘banking on heaven’ and was just disgusted) and it would be stopped. Because these are Indian children it seems some people think they put themselves in this cycle… For being born as they were!
If anything some of these posts are not spouting religious views, but blatant racism.
Do you honestly believe that if this kind of behavior was typical in your area, you would take a stand? You honestly believe that this would be your top priority? If so, not only are you as bad as those that take part in it, you’re lying to yourself.
We are all human.
We are all scum.
Let’s see now…this doc is about child/sex slavery and as always the conversation turns to Religion. The Jews holiest site is a remnant of their last Temple, ie the Wailing Wall. The Christians holiest site is a sepulcher…aka a stone tomb. The Muslims holiest site is the Kaaba…wow another rock.Hindus worship a pantheon of idols,,,geez more rocks. go figure. Which brings me to my friend Jaime, a Mayan from the Yucatan who was trying to explain to another friend of mine why his Granddaddies built all those pyramids.
He cooly looked at Red and said “you know we just had to do something with all these effing rocks!” If you’ve ever been to the Yucatan you’d know what I’m saying. I am seriously starting to believe that Religion is holding our species back and we shall all surely perish when some Radical Fundamentalist of one of the Big 3 gets his hands on some fissionable material and starts the sh*tstorm that will surely commence. Truly people you can’t really think that a being that would create all this would just sit back and watch us hurdle headlong to destruction like some surreal reality show or a big freaking planetary ant farm? I don’t profess to know the answers to all of our problems but I can say if everyone on this so fragile of a world would just adhere to the “Ethic of Reciprocity” we would all be alot better off.
I can honestly say that some beautiful things have come from belief in one way or another either through true love and compassion for your fellow beings, the architecture built to worship and yes, even some of the writings done by followers in the name of their respective Deities. Does it really take a drunk driver to point the way?…Can’t we all just get along? Now back to the Doc…get these scumbag sociopathic trafficers and prosecute them to the full extent of the law and chemically castrate them if necessary. In some cases it does entail extreme measures be taken for the better good of all.
why the fck has religion crept into the comment section. Leave that for another topic and comment on the topic at hand which has absolutely nothing to do with religion.
Religion is so ******. So is money.
Cut the c@#$ out, I am from Pakistan and a Muslim! This happens everywhere not only in India! This was sad and i see bigots fighting amongst themselves to prove its Hinduism, its Islam or its Christianity! This is a Human problem!!!! Human is inherently selfish. Poor and hungry people sell these girls to make money, they are beaten and they give in! Just think about it!
How many of the above commentators follow either Islam, Judaism Christianity, Buddhism, Hinduism, we all know! It would have been nice to comment that someone will send some money for them or this would have opened someone eyes to start doing something! In USA where i live this happens as well! Does not gets reported is different. But all of us have a responsibility which Hinduism, Islam, Christian faith, Judaism Buddhism taught to fight it! Fight it with ur hands, if not with ur pen, money or what ever means u can contribute not to fight like a–holes!
I found Maili courageous! never complained and is helping others look at Jyoti and her brave husband! How many of us would marry them? None but like pseudo nationalists and pseudo religionists we are blaming religion and countries! We all share a blame of this mess! we all!!
