Jimmy Lai is a true champion of freedom and democracy, and his story is a powerful testament to the human spirit. Born into poverty in mainland China, Lai's family moved to Hong Kong when he was just 12 years old. Despite the challenges of starting a new life in a foreign land, Lai was able to build a successful clothing business and eventually entered the world of media.

As China's influence over Hong Kong grew, Lai became increasingly concerned about the erosion of democratic values and freedoms in the city. He used his media outlets, including the influential Apple Daily newspaper, to speak out against government oppression and advocate for greater democracy and human rights.

Lai's activism reached new heights during the pro-democracy protests that swept Hong Kong in 2019. He used his platform to report on the demonstrations and the police brutality that followed, despite the risks to his personal safety. When the Chinese government enacted a sweeping national security law in 2020, Lai was arrested and charged with colluding with foreign forces, a crime that carries a potential life sentence.

Despite his imprisonment, Lai has remained a vocal advocate for democracy and human rights in Hong Kong. His courage and determination have made him a symbol of the struggle for freedom in the region, and his story has inspired countless others to stand up for their rights and beliefs.

Lai's case is emblematic of the broader struggle for democracy and human rights in Hong Kong, which has faced increasing pressure from the Chinese government in recent years. His story serves as a reminder of the importance of protecting the values of freedom, democracy, and human rights, which are essential to the well-being and dignity of all people.

Jimmy Lai's extraordinary struggle for freedom is a story of courage, perseverance, and determination. Despite the challenges he has faced, he has remained committed to the cause of democracy and human rights in Hong Kong, inspiring others to do the same. His story is a powerful reminder of the importance of standing up for what is right, even in the face of overwhelming opposition.

What an extraordinary documentary about an extraordinary man and his people. I was deeply inspired and touched. I would change the title from extraordinary struggle to extraordinary courage and commitment to freedom
